Prologue

"Click your heels together three times and say 'There's no place like home'," I said aloud. I waved my blonde curls away from my face and crouched down to look at my bouncing Terrier pup. "Okay, that's exactly what she said, Biscuit, and it better work. Come on, I'll hold you."
With a happy little barf, the clueless creature jumped into my arms. "Okay, so, one... two..." I clicked my shimmery silver heels together. "...three! There's no place like home!" I closed my eyes, envisioning green rolling hills, hundreds of trees with delicious, ripe plums, and a beautiful authentic home in the center of it. My home.
The wind whirled in my ears, the ground shook beneath my feet, and a blinding white light burned through my eyelids. A strange compressing force made me ground my teeth in pain. And then it was gone. Everything.
"Oh, no, no, no." I breathed out, dropping Biscuit on the blue, grassy ground while I stalked over to the pit where my house once stood. The trees were a weird blocky shape and the trunk was purple! The fruits were plum-sized, plum-shaped, but not plum-colored. They were a sick, green-fused-with-grey color. I looked down. The pit was a bright, glowing lime with strange patterns running down the sides. I lifted my eyes and did a once over around myself.
This wasn't home, this was- oh no.
"This can't be happening, not again!" I groaned, dragging a hand down my face.
