I step into Colly's room first thing in the morning. "Morning Bronx." I mock him and he looks up to me, "Sam and I are destroyed." "Oh, but don't you feel great for pushing yourself?" "No, I feel exhausted, sore, in pain with every slight movement." "But how are you gonna feel a week from today with the second session?" "I'm sure just as awful." "No, it won't be as bad." I roll my eyes and Shelby comes in.
"Am I being replaced?" I hug her, "Never, came in here to bitch at him." "Okay good." I follow her back to her classroom and lay on the couch. "Can I skip english?" She looks up to me. "No," "Girl please, last thing I wanna do is talk about a book I read in middle school." "You have to go for discussion, if you start writing the essay you can come in here." "Bruh," I groan and she smiles. "I can't let you skip for no reason." I roll my eyes and stand up pulling my bag over my back.
4th Hour
I lean back in my chair looking at Colly. "You have work to be doing." "Wrong." He sets his pen down and looks at me with a serious look. "Finished it last night." "Do you have questions?" "Tons," He sighs, "You're not missing art again." "Of course not, showcase today." "So why aren't you asking questions?" "Can't get to your desk to." He chuckles, "Get to work, I'll be there in a second."
"Colly!" James says and Colly looks up. "I'm sorry but this class is hell." "Is it question 16?" James nods and Colly points to the board where it explains how to do questions 16. "Show up on time for now on." "I was pissing!" "Oh I'm sure James." James smiles softly and I look to Sam. Her heads down with her hair in a messy bun. I did her packet for her last night, I'm honestly surprised she's here. I got Sierra after we ate last night and Sam and her went home right as we got to my house. She's just exhausted.
Colly walks up to my desk, "We meeting today?" I ask and he looks at me confused. "You want to train today?" "Something small, good stretch: flexibility day." "I can meet at four." I nod and point to question 18. "What is this?" "Bronx," I study the problem and look back at him lost. "What?" "Fundamental theorem of Calculus." "Yeah I know that, but don't know the theorem.
He scribbled a formula on my page and I take my pencil back. "Stupid," I mumble and he chuckles, "Do you guys wanna go over this?" He ask taking my packet from me. "Uh." I go to reach for it back but he holds his finger out at me. "I think a review on fundamental theorems would benefit you all."
"No," Nora says and he looks back at her, "Now why not?" "I still don't get this. Glad you're a teachers pet and all but we don't get this."
"Teachers pet?" I ask before Colly can speak, "I mean yeah. Grading papers, joining the soccer team, ahead in lessons." "So educated and well rounded?" "Bronx!" Colly snaps. "Me! She is the one thats talking shit on my name!" "Step out." I groan and step out into the hallway. Colly joins soon and looks at me disappointed.
"No, she..." "Sh, I will talk to her as well. What is this quick to anger you have? Teachers pet is not a bad thing." "Yes," I mumble and he looks at me. "I'm not a fucking kiss up. I don't do things to help others. If I do it's helpful to me in the long run. The last thing I want to look like, is weak." "You don't look weak." I roll my eyes and he looked at me serious, "Take a lap." "Why?" "To calm down." "I'm fine!" "That right there proves you are not." I groan and head to the bathroom.
I sit against the wall and pull my pen out looking at how much is left. I click the button five times quickly and take a large hit. A girl walks in as I blow the smoke out. I hand her the pen and she giggles, "I got my own thank you though."
She hands it back and I take another rip. "Brave for sure." She says and I chuckle, "I'd love to get expelled from here." I say taking another. "Bronx right?" I nod and she turns her pen on. "Big news here." "Oh I'm sure. From fifth grade innocent to junior rebel." I roll my eyes with a soft grin. "Are all your friends still innocent?" I nod as more smokes fills my lungs. "I'm so sorry." "Eh don't care, I've got Cam so." "I love Cam?? He's been busy as hell lately so we haven't hung in awhile but..." "Shit, I'm sorry, we've been together almost everyday." "Oh girl not a big deal. I'm glad you have him, good person."
I stand up and turn my pen off. "He is for real, enjoy your high girl, love the pants by the way." She smiles and I head back to class.
I walk into class and Colly looks at me as he writes on the board. I look back and Nora is missing. "Take your seat." I do and lean back watching him teach.
Nora walks in shortly after and looks at me pissed. "If only your looks could kill." I say with a smile and Colly looks at me, "Enough, both of you!" "She shouldn't of started something she couldn't handle." I can see the dried tears on her cheeks and the red in her eyes.
"Oh I can handle it!" "Eyes say otherwise." She takes a deep breath and sits down. I scoff and Colly pulls me out of class again.
"This needs to stop." I roll my eyes and he snaps. "If you keep this attitude up you're not making the team. I will not have an athlete act like this." "Then find a new defensemen that can take the hits I can."
I begin to open the door without letting him say anything and he grabs my arm. "Head to the office." "Are you kidding me?" "Now!" "My stuff," "I'll bring it, now go." "Oh my god."
I head out of art to the parking lot and Colly stops me. "See you at four?" I look at him and he pulls me to his class room.
"Dude I just wanna go home." "I want you on my team. I just cannot let you act like that." "Then don't put me on your team." "You rather have this attitude than play?" "It's not going to change. I'm sorry but I don't have that much control over it." "Then let's work on that." "What? You gonna be my therapist or something?" "No, but I am happy to help in anyway I can." "You sent me to the office, now you wanna help?" "I thought you weren't a teachers pet." "That's why you did it! Do you know how fucked I am when I get home?" "Slow down. I didn't send you to the office just because. You weren't going to fix your behavior. All I am saying is that if you're not a teacher pet, it shouldn't matter. I also talked to your mom about it all." I look at him pissed, "Can I just go home." "I hope to see you at four."
I walk into my house and my mom calls for me. I set my bag down and walk into the kitchen.
"Can we not have this conversation right now." "I was just gonna see if you wanted to get sushi tonight?" "Oh, like go out or take out?" "Take out," "For sure. I'm gonna go take a nap first." "Okay, love you darling."
