You stood behind John, your hand holding on to the top of his chair as you listened to the client. She had long brown hair, Black thick rimmed glasses that seemed to stand out against her thin, wiry frame. She sat on the chair in between the two men grasping on to a thin tissue which had clearly been used more than once. Sherlock sat, eyes closed in his usual position and John was writing down what the women was saying.
"I had no idea the evening would have been like that. On the dating profile he seemed normal but when he showed up at the restaurant something seemed off." She said in between sniffles.
"Off how?" John asked her.
"Something didn't feel right, he looked like the man in the picture but..."
"But? He didn't pay for the meal? He didn't want to see you again? Seriously, is this what I have become?" Sherlock rolled his eye.
"Wait" she said, this seemed to have got Sherlocks attention. "The man said to pass on a message to you" She gently rubbed a stray tear of her cheek. "He said tell Sherlock Holmes that the game is coming".
John looked at Sherlock and Sherlock at John.
"Oh, and, if I didn't tell you he said that I would never see Rex again" She broke down in to a sob.
"Who's Rex?" John questioned.
"My dog" She cried.
"Right, you can go now" Sherlock said.
"Sherlock" John sighed. "I'm sorry that happened to you, but you don't have to worry anymore. You and your dog will be safe now." John half smiled at her.
Once the lady had left Sherlock stood.
"Who do you think told her that?" You asked.
"I'm not sure, maybe someone playing a practical joke?" John replied to you.
Sherlock was walking in a circle around the middle of the room, once again his hands in the prayer like position.
"But why would a random person know that she had a dog? Why would they threaten her like that?" You looked at Sherlock.
"You can just do a quick google search of her I suppose?" John sighed and flipped through his notes.
"Do you think it could have been that, Jim Moriarty?" You shrugged. Sherlocks stopped and turned to face you with a grin.
"Very good" He winked at you and your heart skipped a beat.
"Boys" Mrs Hudson's voice could be heard from the stairwell as the sound of her footsteps came closer. "I have a letter for you, it must have got mixed up in my post again" Mrs Hudson entered the room as her usual happy self before taking one look around the flat. "I wish you boys didn't make such a mess" She tutted before handing John the envelope.
"Thank you" John smiled and opened the letter. "Sherlock... you might want to look at this" Johns faced looked genially worried. Sherlock took the letter from John.
"Looks like we are heading to the hospital" Sherlock announced. He and John grabbed their coats and headed towards the door. "Come on then" He smiled at you. Your face suddenly lit up, you were going on a case with Sherlock Holmes!
"Do be carful, don't get this nice young lady in to trouble" Mrs Hudson fretted.
"Don't worry Mrs Hudson, I won't" Sherlock said as he left the room.
