the seer, eli clark, never really liked his ability from the start—his ability to see the future. oftentimes, he was almost always powerless to seize the tides to his favor; and it has happened too many times that he was the one condemned at fault, even by his own self. this time though, he was desperate more than ever.

it usually unnerved him when people depended on his "visions" for their future, but this time, his heart throbbed painfully in his chest, with the need to protect someone—but at the knowledge of them getting hurt because of him.

no matter how things would turn out, you were bound to get hurt in the future, was what eli consoles himself with.

the seer could never understand why you were so allured to the mystics,.. destiny and shit like that; just as he could not understand why he's so drawn to you. it's complicated, much like having to explain his religion to you. your attention though, was special; something much different from the usual reverence he's received. untainted, innocent... naïve.

if not for the liking he's taken to you, he would've beaten himself up for having the patience to hearing your thoughts out loud. he's found you adorable, and perhaps that's what makes these bearable... and makes it worth because he gets inspiration to put meticulous effort into. the things you'd blubber to him were the usual things that would come out of a flower garden's head.

what would my future be like? do you think i'll find love... the destined person for me— do you think i'll find love here in this manor?

he couldn't help but chuckle. his eyes were blindfolded but you could feel his soft gaze on you, kind and understanding. his hand reached out to brush strands of your hair behind your ear, his lips move, out flowing his words that has never failed to soothe and reassure you. eli was nothing but kind to you. you felt like you were set on the right path by heeding his words for you.

like under an influence of a drug, you'd always light up from his words. as if spellbound from how you were so willing to carry out and follow the seer's words to you from his benediction of the future he reads from you.

it was such a sight to eli; like he won from a lottery. no... it was like watching one's plant grow beautiful and fruitful from the meticulous efforts one as a gardener tended to it as it was under their care.

his readings for you were genuine, his heart would clench witnessing the happiness you so rightfully deserved; but it was such a suffocating hold on him.

but he'd tell you— he was just too lucky you never batted an eyelash regarding the one rule his ability had. he was never to tell it, or face grave consequences.

still, he'd tell you— he wouldn't want anything but the best for you— of course, with a sprinkle of little lies manipulated to his favor. to steer you clear from your path—to what your happy ending was supposed to be—and turn it to a flowery road towards him.

the seer may have been powerless all those times, but now more than ever, he would make sure to put his all to change this destiny. his heart swelled as he thought about how little by little, everything would come to fruition.
