"I'm going to miss you." My mom says pulling me in for a hug. I let out a muffled groan hugging her back. When she lets go of me I take a step back so she can't give me another hug.
"I'll miss you guys too, but I'll be back. We can make plans around Spring time." I promise before turning to my dad. "Bye dad."
"Bye Lex, love you." My dad says before stepping towards me and wrapping his arms around me. When he lets go of me my mom wraps her arms around me for the third time.
"I love you, be safe." Somehow her words have a way of making my stomach turn. No matter how hard I try not to, I think of Derek. Is he really as dangerous as he's made out to be? I close my eyes taking a deep breath through my nose and hug my mom tightly.
"Of course mom, I love you guys. I'll call soon." I promise before heading over to the car. When I sit down in the car, both Scott and Stiles stop talking and look at me and then each other. Neither of them say anything to me, and I cross my arms not willing to make the first move. If they're going to be immature about something as silly as who I talk to then that's their problem. I didn't need to listen to them.
"Are you ready?" Scott asks and I nod leaning my head on the window ready to get back home as soon as I can.

"Lex, we're here." Stiles says and I open my eyes before letting out a yawn. I slowly sit up and take a look around. It's still sunlight out, but it won't be for much longer. With a sigh I get out of the car and walk over to the trunk to get my bag. "I can get that for you." Stiles says and I look over at him raising an eyebrow.
"You don't have to, I'm capable of carrying my own things." I say in reply. Stiles sighs before grabbing both my bags and his own and heads inside of the building. "Whatever," I grumble turning on my heel and walking down the street. There wasn't a chance I was going inside, not while both Scott and Stiles are inside making me feel like I'm not even welcome in my own home.
I stare at my feet as I walk, not caring where I'm heading, having no exact destination. I blow out a gust of air watching my breath dissapte into the air. The cold air does little to clear my head, in fact I think it's doing the exact opposite. What was it about Derek that made Stiles and Scott so weird? Never in our friendship had we not gotten along, well, other than once..
And as for Derek, what was it that he was hiding? The more I thought about it, the more I realized I didn't know. I didn't know him at all and it made me nervous to think that he would put me into some kind of trouble. I shook my head heading into the first building on my side of the street. The warm air hit me in the face causing me to sigh in relief. It was actually really cold outside. My eyes scanned my surroundings and I found myself in a small diner. I rubbed my hands together before taking a seat in one of the nearest booths. I sat there for a little bit, ordering myself something warm to drink, letting myself take the time to sort out this mess.
When I left the diner it was dark outside, the moon was high in the sky and the city lights were bright in my eyes. The city was still booming with life as I pushed my way through the crowds in order to get home. When I was finally able to walk without the worry of running into someone I pulled my phone out deciding call Stiles. There was fiive missed calls, three of them from Derek. I couldn't help but stop in my tracks as I stared at my phone. Taking my lip between my teeth I quickly diverted my attention to the text message that I had.
*Went to Scott's text me later.
It was Stiles. I silently thanked him for texting me and not Derek. I knew that eventually I was going to have to talk to him, but right now I wasn't ready and honestly didn't have a clue as to what I would say to him. I continued walking after a minute finding myself back at my building soon after. I took my coat off as I got into the elevator. When I stepped off the elevator and onto my floor I began to check my pockets for my key. The metal was cold on my skin, but that wasn't the only reason I suddenly felt chills. It was the figure that stood at my door, back pressed to the wood, clad in a black hoodie, arms crossed in a mean unappoarchable manner. My breathing began to pick up and the key slipped from my fingers, the only sound heard through the hallway was my key hitting the floor.
