Its cold as I leave my apartment, the cold air blowing around me makes me wish I had brought a heavier jacket. I hear Scott and Stiles arguing about what movie we're going to watch and I pursue my lips to keep from telling them to shut up.
My hands bury themselves into my pockets in hopes to find some relief from the frigid air. "Lex, are you even listening?" Stiles asks and I shrug, skipping down the steps. Its as I reach the last step my thoughts are flooded with my trip on the subway earlier this morning. The words 'you're mine.' etching itself into my brain.
"I try my best not to if I'm honest." I say watching my breath dissipate into the air as I speak. I watch as Stiles rolls his eyes, subtly flipping me off. I hear the train coming closer and I can't help but feel uneasy as it comes to a stop. Silently wishing I don't run into the mysterious traveler like I had this morning.
An arm lay on my shoulder, a sigh leaving my lips as I glance over at Scott. "You're annoying," I laugh as we walk onto the train sitting next to each other. Scott laughs, his arm falling from my shoulders. I sometimes find it hard to believe that Scott is in a relationship considering all of the flirting he does. Though he only does it to annoy me, we aren't the greatest of friends. And then there is also the fact he seems to have moved into my house..
Luckily the subway is empty as we ride in the direction of the local theater Lydia and Isaac go to. I mean its about three miles from my house, and nearly a thirty minute commute with all the stops I have to sit through. But at least its local for them.
"Alexa, are you okay?" Scott asks. Both Stiles and him stare at me, I raise my eyebrow at them. "You've been looking around the subway like you're waiting for someone." Stiles chimes in and I shrug, embarrassed that they had noticed my uneasiness.
"Just hoping no drunkards come on the train, Scott, you remember what happened the last time." I tease as he rolls his eyes remembering when he and I had taken the subway and a drunken woman had given him a lap dance. The train finally comes to our stop, and I'm thankful to be off of the train. The stopping of the train does little to silence the conversation the two boys behind me have on what size popcorn they need to buy. "Seriously knock it off or I'm leaving." I threaten running up the cement steps and out to the main streets.
I'm thankful that we only need to walk across the street, wanting to get out of the cold as quick as possible. A sigh falls from my lips as I follow Stiles into the movies, escaping the almost freezing weather. The three of us stand around the door for a few minutes, looking for Lydia and Isaac. As my eyes scan the room I feel my chest tighten as my vision lands over him. His expression hard as he stands with a few other people. All of them looking very out of place. His eyebrows are knitted together as he listens to one of- what I assume to be- friends talk. As I stare in his direction all I can hope is that his eyes don't fall over me.
I jump as a hand touches my shoulder, a gasp escaping my lips. "Jesus Lex, you look like you've seen a ghost." A voice, that I recognize to be Isaac says and I look over at him, a smile forming on my lips. I wrap my arms around him laughing, his presence always seeming to have a way to calm me down.
"It took you guys long enough." I say, smiling over at Lydia who returns my gesture. We all walk towards the ticket booth, while Lydia complains about the line. I roll my eyes and take my phone from my pocket, wondering how I even managed to remain friends with these guys after so long. But I quickly remind myself that they have been there for me, always, I couldn't let them go even if I tried.
"Let's watch that new horror film." Scott says and I break my gaze from my phone to look at him.
"I hate horror films," Lydia says the same time Isaac says" I'm down," I shrug my shoulders not really caring how this played out, to be fair I didn't even want to come. We turn our heads to Stiles knowing he's the deciding vote.
