3. A drunk Eduardo

Lia left the house early that day. There were still a couple days left until classes started. And today she was going to student orientations. A student guide showed her and the other freshmen all around the campus, but she had already seen most of it because of Samuel. The university is truly beautiful, nice buildings and classrooms, lots of greenery, and the constant life of it made her feel safe. The other freshmen were nice too.

When the guide was showing them around the outdoor area, Lia spotted Eduardo in a cafeteria with two other guys his age. They both had curly hair, one wearing a gray GAP hoodie and one wearing a black jacket. The one in the black jacket seemed very chatty while the other one was calmer. She had never seen them before, but the guy in the black jacket seemed familiar and was annoyingly handsome to Lia. Not only was her roommate handsome, but also his friends? She wondered if the guide would notice if she left to join them, but decided to not find out and just stay on the tour. She had to know where all her classrooms were, after all. 

The sun was setting. The sky was still light blue, but the clouds were pink and she had to put on a hoodie to not be too cold.
”So guys, this was the tour, me and my friends are going to a restaurant now, and if any of you want to join, you are more than welcome. We will answer any questions you have too!”, the guide said. She was a small, bubbly brunette girl. 
Some girls went up to her and said that they wanted to join, and so did Lia. Why not, she thought. She only had one friend here, so this was a great chance.

They all went to a Mexican restaurant and had a great time. They bonded over the excitement of going to Harvard, but also the fear of academic life. 

”What dorm are you in, Lia?”, the freshman beside Lia said and looked at her while picking up her birria taco.
Lia had a mouth full of nachos. ”Um… I actually don’t live in the dorms.” 
”Oh my god, you have your own apartment?”
”Yeah yeah, I live around here, alone.” Lia said and shifted her weight from side to side.
”Damn, you should have joined us in the dorms. It’s really fun.” She said and took a huge bite of her taco.
”I bet it is”, Lia sighed.

She came back ”home”, if she could call it that, and immediately plopped down on her bed. She was in a food coma and quickly fell asleep. It was not a good sleep. She was constantly woken up by sounds from in and outside the house, but that’s her own fault for falling asleep at 8 o’clock in the evening. And at 3 o’clock in the morning, the door to the room opened, and a drunk Eduardo stepped in. 

”Whoa, sorry, ahem… were you sleeping?”, he said loudly after turning the ceiling lamp on.
”Eduardo? Yeah, yeah I was.” Lia said and sat up on her bed, collecting the hair out of her face. She had fallen asleep in her clothes.
”Sorry for waking you up, I was...” He chuckled. ”I was at a party!”
”Oh my god, lower your voice! You’re gonna wake the rest of the house up!” Lia whisper-yelled and made a sign for him to come in and close the door. He followed and stumbled to his bed where he clumsily sat down.

”You’re drunk.” Lia said and laughed.
”No I’m not! Or okay, a little, but I’m fineee”. He said and waved his hand. ”See?” He stood up, stumbled over to Lias bed and sat down next to her. ”Let me tell you about The Facebook. Do you, do you have it?” 
”No, I’m sorry, what's that? Is that like MySpace?” She asked.
”Yeah, kind of, but better, my friend made it, and I… I take care of all the financial stuff.”, he said and put his hand behind her while leaning in. ”It’s gonna be really big, you know, you sho- you should get it!”, he said and rested his head on her shoulder.
”You’re so drunk” she said and tried to lift his head up. He was looking at her.
”You’re so pretty” he said and her heart jumped.
”Thank you, Eduardo, but please get off me so I can get you some water.” she laughed.

She got up and he lied down on her bed. She gave him the glass of water and he obeyed and drank it. 

”Thank you!”, he said, a bit too loudly, again.
”Did your friend really make The Facebook?” She asked and sat down next to him.
”Yea, my friend Mark, Mark Zuckerberg” he said and leaned back. 
”Is that one of the guys you were with today?” She asked, before realizing that she just admitted to staring at them earlier today.
”Lia, are you spying on me?” Eduardo smirked.
”No, no I was just at student orientations and-”
”It’s alright. I saw you too, weirdo”, Eduardo interrupted, still very much drunk. ”Yes, that was Mark.”
”And um, there was another guy in a black jacket, or was that Mark?”, Lia asked and tried not to sound too curious about Black jacket.
”That was Sean Parker. You’ve heard of him?” Eduardo sighed.
”I don’t think so?” Lia said and scratched her head. ”Honestly, I just thought he was a bit cute” Lia chuckled.
”Sean?” Eduardo groaned. 
”Yes, what?”
”He’s just so… I just don’t like him. I wouldn’t go after that if I were you” he said and rubbed his eyes.
”Alright, then”, Lia said and helped him over to his own bed. ”There’s makeup all over your shirt. Partying with lots of girls?” she inquired. She stood by his bed while he was half sitting, half lying on it.
”What? No? Where?” He tried to find the stains.
”It’s on your back, it really looks like someone dragged their face all over your back” Lia had a good laugh at the smear. Eduardo looked up at her and smiled smugly.

”Can you help me take the shirt off? I’m too drunk.” He said, closed his eyes and leaned back.
”Good try, Eduardo, quit playing”, Lia said sternly. She wanted to, but it was awkward, she just met him.
”Please?” He said and stared up at her. 
”Fine.” She started unbuttoning his shirt and he carefully stared at her. When she was done didn’t open it or anything, just sat back down on her own bed. ”There.”
”Thank you so much!” He said and took it off completely.
”No problem, party boy” she said and looked away instinctively. Time to go to bed again.
