After letting the anger simmer down for only a few minutes, she already regretted snapping at him. It didn’t help that he, on the other hand, kept his calm and didn’t insult her at all. She still thought he was in the wrong, but at least he didn’t lash out out of nowhere. Lia immediately went home and when Eduardo eventually did too, they didn’t even exchange a glance at each other. The total silence between them didn’t go away until the party.

Lia was very late. She put on one of the party dresses she brought, a black tight short dress, a silver necklace with a small heart on it and a small handbag and made her way to the party Sean had texted her the details about. When she arrived an unknown guy opened the door.

“I’m sorry, do I know you?” he looked perplexed.
“Yo, Lia, you came!” Sean’s voice said from the crowd inside the dorm.
“Hi!” she beamed.
“You look great” he smiled and led her into the party. “Crazy in Love” by Beyoncé was playing.
“Thank you, you do too” Lia replied. Sean put his hands on her hips and started moving to the music.
“I’m so glad you came.” he said and pulled her in closer.
Lia put her hands around his neck. “I’m so glad I could come!” she said and also started dancing.
Sean caught a glance of one of his friends, a girl. “Hey, could you get us some drinks?” he asked her.
“Sure”, she replied and came back with two solo cups of beer. They both drank them and continued dancing with each other, getting even closer.
“Liberal arts huh… You know, I love being liberal.” Sean said, drunkenly.
Lia burst into a hearty laugh. “I bet you do”.
Sean smiled, rolled his eyes and suddenly he was kissing her.

Eduardo was on the other side of the room with Mark, chatting with two girls. One of them tried to get Eduardo to go to a bedroom with her, but he caught a glance of Lia and Sean.

“What. The. Fuck?” he uttered. The girl saw him looking at Lia, scoffed, and left. Eduardo immediately went up to them, but they were too busy kissing. “Hello?” Eduardo cleared his throat and waved his hand at them.
They stopped the makeout session. “Oh, you?” Lia sighed.
“You said you “just met me” so you wouldn’t take dating advice from me, but you’re fine with kissing a guy you met even sooner? Come on Lia, you’re better than this, at least I think you are.” he complained and pointed his hands at her and Sean.
Lia, who had regretted her whole outburst from yesterday a bit, stayed quiet. But Sean didn’t.
“Hey, why are you mad? Just cause you can’t get girls?”
“I assure you, I can, I just care about Lia and know how you usually treat women”, he said and took a step towards Sean, who had now let go of Lia’s waist.
Sean stepped in too. “Good. Then go to your girls, instead of being in Lia’s and my business.” he cautioned.
Instead of replying, Eduardo put his fist up, ready to punch Sean’s teeth out. Sean immediately retreated and put his hands up, like a scared little boy.
Eduardo chuckled. “I like standing next to you, Sean. It makes me look so tough.” he smiled and walked away.

Sean looked his way and stepped back to Lia. “Phew, what a weird guy right?” he laughed and fixed his shirt.
Lia was a bit, icked out, by Sean looking like a complete loser next to Eduardo, but brushed it off. “Yeah, anyway, are you down for like”, Lia scratched her head, “a date, tomorrow after class, maybe?” it was a bit soon, but class was getting started and she wanted to do it before she had too much to study.
“Yeah yeah, for sure, Lia” Sean said without maintaining eye contact.
“Great, I’ll text you?”
“Yeah! See you then!” he said, and patted her on the shoulder before quickly leaving.

Lia was furious. Eduardo had almost ruined her chances with Sean. She decided to ignore the whole situation and to have fun at the party instead. She went up to a group of girls, one of them she had met at student orientations, and spent the rest of the party drinking, dancing and chatting with them.
