Your new friend

I walked into class, I wanted to take my spot. The one right next to you. But there was already someone sitting there.
Who's that? I don't recognise her.

"Hi," I say to you.
"Hey, meet my friend," You said, pointing to the girl next to you. She gave me a smile. Seemed fake to me.
I take the spot behind you, hoping your friend won't be here in the next class.

But oh, after our first class, she doesn't leave.
And oh, after our second class, she still doesn't leave.
It seems like she won't ever leave you.
Sitting behind you, listening to your funny jokes, and her stupid laugh afterwards. That's not how I expected my lessons to look like.
As much as I wanted to ignore you guys, I just couldn't.
Your voice is too beautiful to ignore.

As I went to bed, I wished she would never show up to school again. I wished she would never sit next to you again. I wished I would never have to hear her stupid laugh again.

But no, she kept showing up.
Day after day, she would take my spot.
Day after day, I would hear her laugh at your jokes.
Day after day, she would get closer to taking my spot as your bestfriend.
Day after day, I had to sit behind you guys.
Day after day, I had to see you act happier around her, than you ever were around me.
Day after day, I had to go through that pain.
