The next morning we both woke up to someone shaking us and whispering gwi nam was the first to jump up on high alert him jumping up alarmed me i sat up and looked around quickly, i calmed down after realizing there were no monsters in sight
I looked at the man standing above us and immediately recognized him as our principal , he grabbed his jacket and tossed his car keys to gwi-nam
"Go get my car" he stated "its the purple on in the lot"
Gwi nam throws the keys down and stands up "no"
The principal looks at us and motions for me to come to him, i get up and im stopped by gwi nam
"Shes not coming to you and im not going out there to get your car you get it"
I stood there quietly jumping at the loud bangs in the hallway the principal throws the keys back at gwi nam
"If you dont get my car ill push you out"
Gwi nam looked at the keys and picked them up tossing em on the table the principal walked closer to gwi nams face gwi nam snapped and grabbed the principal by his shirt
"Camryn go get the knife"
"Why what are you goin t-"
I was cut off by gwi nam shouting at me
"Just go get the damn knife camryn"
I quickly grabbed the knife and handed it to gwi nam
"Stand back"
"What are you gonna do gwi-nam"
I didnt get an answer , i watched as gwi-nam grabbed string and tied the principals hands together he stood behind him with the knife in his hands
The door busted open and cheong-san quickly ran in pressing his body again the door i ran over to him and hugged him
"Wheres onjo is she alright ??"
"Shes fine shes with the others we just got separated"
The principal groaned and both cheong san and i looked towards the couch cheong san pulled out a phone and started recording .gwi nam looked upset and put pressure against the principals neck with the knife
"Gwi nam no you dont need to do that"
"He just put me in danger camryn" he looked towards cheong-san "if you dont put the camera down ill kill him"
Cheong-san didnt budge and i knew he'd regret it, before anyone could breathe gwi-nam dragged the knife across the principals neck killing him instantly i backed up against the wall as gwi-nam stalked towards cheong-san they both fought over the phone and when gwi-nam was getting up cheong-san grabbed my arm and ran out of the door we both ran as fast as we could we took a turn into the library and quickly climbed onto the shelves the both of us were pushed off by one of the guys and we ran and dodged the zombies quickly getting back on another shelf
Gwi nam ran in and climbed the shelves throwing the boy down to the ground for the zombies to eat he made eye contact with me and stalked towards us
"Stay here" cheong san whispered
I nodded and watched as cheong san jumped to the other bookcases , gwi nam followed after him and the fought before i could blink gwi nam fell into the zombies.
I felt my heart stop beating and the only think i could here was his screams , znd then he said my name and i heard myself scream his name and then silence
Cheong san and i ran out the library and down the halls looking for somewhere to go. Cheong san hurriedly crawled into a small space in the wall and i followed after him even though my heart was hurting and i couldnt see through the tears that pooled in my eyes i knew i couldnt stop going cheong san and i crawled up the tunnel while cheong san attempted to call the police we quickly crawled out of the space and into a classroom. The music room
as soon as we closed the door i collapsed i sobbed so much i couldnt catch my breath i hated it i hated him not being here safewithme i hated that he felt the need to kill anyone but i loved the way he protected me and loved me i loved the way hed do anything for me even if it put him in danger i was broughtout of my thoughts by cheong san touching my knee
"camryn im sorry i didnt mean for him to die but i didnt know how else to stop him"
i didnt say anything i only looked at him, i understood i wasnt made at him he was just trying to survive but if surviving felt like this maybe i didnt want to.
"its ok" i stated
he sighed knowing that it wasnt anyone that knew gwi nam and i knew that we were never apart every moment we had would be spent with eachother i let out another sob i looked at my wrist and twisted the bracelet that he bought me on my birthday
cheong-san walked around the room and covered the zombie unhder the piano with a sweater
"onjo is safe and we have most of the class in a group we had found ms park but na-yeon killed gyeon and she ran out ms park followed after her"
I looked up in shock
"she killed him?"
he nodded.
"they had been having beef since gyeon forgot to hold the door the gym teacher came in and he was bitten everyone was scared he bit one girl and we all fled up stairs to the science room then we found out i-sak was bitten"
"i-sak???"
he nodded again
"we had to do something fast so we tossed her out the window and before she could fall onjo grabbed her hand and she stood there holding i-sak for 4 minutes it felt like i eventually grabbed the chair and knocked her off we decided to leave the classroom and climb out of the window we used the fire hose in the hallway and tied it thats when we found ms park and reunited with su-hyeok"
"how did you seperate from them"
"su-hyeok and i went to the teachers lounge to grab a phone i couldnt makeit back to the window so i ran"
we sat in silence for a few minutes and he looked at me how did you and gwi-nam end up in the principals office
"after we got seperated in the cafe we hid under the metal thing in the kitchen"
he nodded
i took a deep breath
"two other kids came under and he pushed them out he said he was "protecting me" and i believed him but they didnt deserve it"
i let out a sob
"then he killed the lunch lady he threw her infront of those things and then we ran i ran and i feel so guilty " i let out
"i feel guilty for letting him kill them i could have stopped himbut i was scared . it was either me or them he used to tell me that alot you know "its either you or them and as long as im here its always gonna be them " i miss him so much cheong-san and i know he was bad i know people were scared of him and he hurt people but he was so sweet"
cheong-san hung his head
"its not your fault, we're all trying to survive"
