Triv's POV, 19 years old

"Ladies and Gentlemen, take cover where you can! Nuclear warheads have been launched between countries and..." said the radio of an abandoned police cruiser I was running by. The world had just declared nuclear warfare and my parents were hunting me down... One of the lowest points of my life. I could hear the explosions in the distance and see the clouds of fire amongst the night sky. The cold air felt heavy in my lungs and made my nose drip, the sounds of explosions from the nukes were divided up by the impact of the arrows from my parents chasing me.

"TRIVEAN ORLAN WARMHEART!" Exclaimed them from behind me, an arrow flying through the windshield of a car next to me. "YOU DO NOT TALK TO US LIKE THAT!" I ran into the woods next to me, trying to avoid the arrows. All I did was disagree with them, tell them that I wasn't like them, tried to make my own life... Yeah, such a loving family.

I kept running, trying to lose them, stumbling when an arrow imbedded itself close to me. I kept running until I got into a clearing, and noticed some kind of distortion of the moonlight around it. I didn't wait long as another arrow nearly grazed my ear, only to hit something solid in the field. I wanted to investigate but I kept running, only to hear screaming and yelling behind me. They were getting close. My heart was pounding, my legs felt like they were about to give out, and my body about to keel over.

I ran towards and then tried to get around whatever was in the clearing, only to feel something grab me and pull me towards it. I couldn't see what since it was behind me, but it held my mouth closed as my family came into the clearing.

They were anthropomorphic wolves, like me, all dressed in decent clothing, and armed with bows and crossbows. They followed my tracks and then kept going around, taking off into the woods, as if I had kept running towards it.

"When I let go, you tell me what they were after you," said a voice behind me. I felt the grip around my mouth loosen and I was able to speak.

"Look, those were my parents. I told them I wasn't going to be a teacher like them, I told them that I wasn't like them, and they didn't take it lightly," I said.

"What were you going to be?" Asked the voice.

"An engineer. Mechanical engineer. Look, if you're going to kill me then just do it. The world's getting nuked, my parents just turned on me..." I said.

"...Let us talk for a bit," said the voice. It let me go and I turned around, seeing an unusual creature. An anthropomorphic dragon, covered in red and white scales with red eyes. He was wearing a full white jacket covering his whole body and had some kind of metal device that looked like a headset on his head.

"W-What are...?" I asked. Dragons and other creatures were fantasy, made up completely.

"Please, come," said the dragon, leading me further into metal ship. I followed, looking around the metal interior and location. He sat me down in a glass cockpit with a few seats and navigation tools.

"What is your name?" Asked the dragon.

"Trivean, Trivean Warmheart," I said, catching my breath.

"Nice to meet ya', I am Doctor Virious Westbork. I am an inventor from Nilan. I working on universal translator. I tried to make it for your planet but..."

"Too many languages and things just fell apart... Yeah," I said, noticing the odd speech patterns. "It needs a bit of work."

"I assumed," said Westbork. "So, why an engineer?"
