Right after those cops left Mia called me and I picked up the phone with shaky hands.
"You okay? I heard you was crying in the car." She said.
Dang, Sammy.
"Yeah but that's another conversation. The police just came here looking for your mother." I said.
"Well she ain't there, don't trip. They say why?"
"They just said they think she committed a serious crime and that they would be seeing me soon."
"I guess her dirt catching up to her. Anyway, how did it go with Brian?" She asked again.
"Apparently he's "been" curious about boys. That the other boy kissed him and he stopped it but he kinda liked it. But still, curiosity doesn't excuse cheating so I left. " I told her.
"You did the right thing babe, but he's going through a lot too. Maybe y'all can be friends someday along the line." She replied.
"Yeah, maybe. But not today or tomorrow."
"Okay babe well if you need anything call me or Sammy."
"Okay, bye." Click.
I called Liz next and she answered on the first ring.
"He told me throw it back!" Were her first words when she answered.
"Abowwwww!" I sang back.
"What you doing? I was justtttt about to call you. I stole some Henny out my father bar bitch! And my bitch got a birthday!!!" She squealed.
"What we bout to do?"
"More like my house or yours?" She said.
"Yours bitch duh! I told you my sister in the hospital so ain't nobody here to tell me yes or no." I said back.
She laughed and said, "I'm bout to call you a Uber get ready." We hung up and I got ready.
Its been Liz and Liv ever since we came here to Atlanta a few years back. That bitch family is loaded. I mean she just said her father's bar. Shit, my house didn't even have steps.
She was always there for me. When I had to fight bitches cause they was talking about my sister being a pornstar, she was right there fighting with me. When my dad abandoned me, even though all I ever wanted to do was be in his life, she was there for me. Liz was the realest bitch I've ever met in my schools in Atlanta.
But back home, in Southeast D.C., I had the realest bitch I ever met. Aniya was my best friend. We did everything together, had secrets together that we would take to the grave, and even our families were close. We loved each other so much that one night, we took things a little too far. We were really young, we didn't know any better. One night, we were having a sleepover and watching a movie when we ended up kissing. Ever since then, our friendship was a little bit more than a friendship but, still a friendship. It was complicated. We still talk and all, but us not being close to each other as much has put a strain on our relationship. She hasn't come to visit me, and I haven't gone to visit her. We've both had a lot going on so I don't blame her. But one thing's for sure, I miss her all the time.
I got in the shower and refreshed my knotless braids before moisturizing and getting dressed. I put on a simple white shirt with ripped light blue jeans and some black white dunks and got in the Uber.
I pulled up to Liz's mansion and her mother greeted me excitedly at the door, looking rich as ever in her flowing satin robe and her Louis Vuitton slippers. Her mom was a retired lawyer, plus she came into a huge inheritance after her father passed. Her father used to be in the NBA back in the day but he started coaching a college basketball team out of boredom. They always got Liz what she wanted as long as she kept straight A's. They were great parents to her ; They never missed a game she danced at, never missed a talent show, and they supported her in whatever she wanted to do. Shit, if she said she wanted to be a scientist, they would build her a lab. She had everything a girl could want. That's why when she ask if I wanna come over I'ma say yes every time. It's a whole different life.
