-James' POV-

I was awoken suddenly by a loud thud, so I glanced at my clock and saw the time; 3:42 AM. I listened for any noise, straining my ears in the process. I heard my mother rush downstairs, followed by my father. I'd learned how to differentiate their footsteps so I would know who was coming towards my room.

After a couple minutes of shuffling downstairs, I decided to get up and scope things out. As I walked downstairs, I saw my best friend Sirius Black and his little brother Regulus Black, who was only a year younger. I immediately ran towards Sirius.

"Padfoot! Regulus! What are you guys doing here?! Is everything alright!?" I frantically questioned them. My mother was cooking a small meal for us, assuming we were all hungry. She was correct, I will never understand how she always knows when we're hungry.

"Please forgive our Intrusion at this hour." Regulus said kindly to me and my parents.

"Oh, it's quite alright dear. You must be Regulus, yes? I've heard a lot about you, all good things of course! Come, sit at the table!" my mother, Effie, gently responded. Reggie thanked her as we sat at the table and Sirius explained what had happened.

"Walburga and Orion were trying to force Reggie here to get the mark, so I dragged him into the library. They followed, tried to use the Cruciatus curse on us both, so I grabbed him again and floo traveled here." Sirius explained. Regulus nodded in agreement, still clearly spooked from the encounter he had minutes before.

Regulus had a pale complexion, his cheekbones were very defined. His lips were a light pink and his jawline was... no. Why was I thinking about him like this? I caught myself staring at him, luckily nobody noticed. I quickly got up from the table and approached my mother, seeing if she needed help. She sent me to grab the milk from the fridge, so I obliged.

"Do you guys need anything? Anything at all? Are you hurt?" I addressed them both.

"Prongs, it's okay. Calm yourself, we aren't dying." Sirius remarked in his usual sarcastic tone. I rolled my eyes at Padfoot, then looked at Regulus, talking to him gently and directly.

"Are you okay? Do you need water or anything?"

"Y-yes please" He stuttered shyly. I smiled kindly at him and grabbed him a glass of water. I placed it in front of Reggie, and he immediately took a drink. Then, of course, Sirius made another smart comment.

"Waiter, I'll take your finest beverage." He requested, stretching out 'finest'. I smiled and grabbed him a glass of apple juice, then embraced the role as the waiter. I grabbed a washcloth and put it over my forearm, grabbed a marker and drew on a stunning mustache, then delivered his beverage.

"Here you are, good sire. Can I get you gentlemen anything else?" I questioned, in a more refined accent then my regular one. Sirius tried to hold back a laugh, but failed miserably. He busted out laughing, causing my father to look up from the couch and let out a chuckle. I laughed, then my mother announced dinner was ready, after she finished laughing of course.

"Waiter, come and deliver the food to our guests!" Effie exclaimed as I walked over towards her. I delivered the food carefully and tried not to laugh.

"Compliments to the chef!" I smirked as I put the washcloth back and washed off my masterpiece of a mustache. I could have sworn I saw Regulus Black half-smile while everyone was laughing. It was adorable.

"You children don't stay up to late, now! James, after dinner show our guests their rooms. Monty, come, lets go to bed." My mother ordered gently as she steered my half asleep father upstairs.

"Yes Ma'am." I smiled at her, before returning back to my food.

Me and Padfoot talked about our summers, and occasionally I tried to ask Regulus what good things happened. He'd just shrug and continue eating. I figured he'd warm up to me eventually, we still had about 1 month together.

Eventually we all finished our food, so I grabbed our dishes and placed them into the sink. Our house elf, Gully, had awoken when I had. I gave him a miniature cake that my mother had baked for him, and suggested he go to sleep. He smiled at me, thanked me, and scurried off to his bedroom.

"This way boys, to your rooms." I gestured to the stairs and walked up them, the brothers close behind. I led them to the second guest bedroom, it had 2 full size beds inside.

"You two will have to share a room, my apologies. My mum has completely turned the other guest room into a temporary sewing room." I smiled, as Sirius walked into the guest room and called the bed farthest from the window. Regulus let out a quiet sigh, that I somehow heard, and followed his brother into the room. I showed Reg where the restroom was, as Sirius had been to my house many times before, then I went off to bed. The time was 4:56 AM. Perfect. I slowly drifted off to sleep.
