A/N:
Merry Christmas! - and yes, I know it's after Christmas, but I wasn't about to wait a whole year to post this! In reality, I started this fic like 4 years ago when my friend Caro showed me the movie "Christmas in Boston". The overall concept was taken from that movie and even some of the plot points, while also trying to give it its own spin to better work with the characters.
If you don't ship Oliver/Felicity, they are minimal. I only chose them because I felt like their personalities worked best for the plot then other characters in the show.

Caitlin was getting herself ready for the day when she heard a ping go off on her computer. She walked over, a knowing smile on her face, since she was pretty sure she knew who was messaging her. Sitting down at her desk, she smirked, seeing the familiar name, as her fingers diligently typed back her response.
"Caitlin! You here?!" She then heard a voice call out to her a few moments later, heels clicking as they reached her home office area. "Hey, we're late."
Caitlin looked at the time, cursing slightly under her breath. "Sorry, Felicity," she apologized as she picked up her purse and other belongings. "Barry was just telling me about his new job. He got the CSI position at his local police precinct," she boasted proudly.
Felicity rolled her eyes. "Of course lover boy would be the reason why you're late," she commented as they exited Caitlin's apartment.
The young doctor scrunched her face inwards. "Lover boy?" Caitlin repeated, puzzled. "We're just friends," she insisted. "In fact, 12 years ago today was when our teachers gave us our penpal assignment!"
Felicity snorted. "Exactly. What guy keeps talking to a girl that long if he doesn't have some type of feelings for her?" she assessed. "Plus, I've seen some of his messages to you - I swear he's got it bad."
Caitlin frowned, turning contemplative.
"Come on!" Felicity hollered again, "Dr. Wells said he had something important to tell us and I doubt a promotion will be in the cards if we are late."
.
"Dr. Snow. Ms. Smoak." Dr. Wells dipped his head to each as they entered his office. "Thank you for joining me."
The ladies took their respective seats in front of their boss' desk. "Sorry if we're late," Caitlin meekly stated, her hand flattening the creases in her skirt.
Dr. Wells waved the matter off. "Quite alright," he assured the duo, his grin wide and excited. "Now, I have an interesting proposition for you two. How do you feel about Central City?"
Felicity cocked her head to the side. "It's...nice?" she let out unsurely.
Their boss chuckled. "I only ask because our new lab in Central City is due to open next Friday, and I want you both to accompany me."
Caitlin and Felicity's faces both broke out into huge grins, knowing what an honor it was to accompany Harrison Wells to a lab opening. Maybe he was considering them to lead the lab faculty for that site!
"I know it's very close to Christmas-"
"I'm Jewish, so that's fine," Felicity blurted out, causing the older man to chuckle once again, before turning to Caitlin.
"And Dr. Snow, will you be able to attend too? Arrangements back home for the holiday might be challenging but I'll make sure to reimburse you, no matter the cost."
