"Do you think he's awake yet?" Euphemia asked, her hand on the door knob. Fleamont shrugged and she opened the door. They moved quietly to the bed to find James still asleep, an arm hanging off the bed and his leg out from under the covers. His hair looked even messier than usual and he was drooling.
"I'll get his trunk, do you want to wake him up?" Fleamont whispered. She nodded, opening the curtains with her wand and gently shaking James' shoulder.
"James, wake up," she murmured, "Time to get up." He blinked sleepily, reaching for his glasses on the bedside table.
"Hmm?"
"We have to leave soon and you still need to have breakfast, remember. We have to be at the station by-"
"Hogwarts!" James exclaimed, sitting up straighter and cutting her off. "I get to go to magic school, come on!" He jumped out of bed and ran out of the room, Euphemia right behind him.
"No running James, be careful! Slow down and- get off the bannister!"
"Dear, maybe we should let him get his energy out here, might be calmer later." Fleamont suggested as he passed.
"Weeeeeee- Ow!"
There was a thud and Euphemia gasped, running forward to make sure he was okay.
"I'm fine!" he called up, "What's for breakfast?"
5 minutes later, Euphemia had finally gotten James to sit at the table and one of the house elves placed a plate of pancakes in front of him. James reached across the table for the syrup and powdered sugar, pouring so much, you could barely see the pancakes. After he had eaten and they were getting ready to leave, Fleamont looked around before pulling a package out of his jacket and putting it in James' trunk. He winked.
"Don't tell your mother." James nodded, wondering what it was. "And don't open it until you get to school. And do try to keep it a secret." He nodded again and Euphemia came downstairs.
"Are we all ready?"
They made it with a few minutes to spare so as his parents talked with other people, James looked around the station. As he was wondering whether or not that pretty girl with red hair would be sorted into Gryffindor with him, Euphemia leaned down and kissed his forehead, giving him a hug.
"You be good alright, I don't want to hear about you giving the professors a hard time."
James turned to give his father a hug and left to get on the train. He found an empty compartment and put his trunk away, waving to his parents out the window.
...
Sirius woke up to quite a rude awakening. He had been dragged out of bed by one of the house elves and had only woken up once his head hit the doorframe. Now the house elf was pulling him down the stairs, making his headache worse. He pulled his ankle free and the elf turned to glare at him.
"Master was supposed to be downstairs 10 minutes ago," it sneered.
"Okay, okay." Sirius stood up, brushing his clothes off, "You didn't have to drag me out of bed."
The house elf scoffed and continued down the stairs, Sirius trailing behind. Walburga was waiting in one of the living rooms and Sirius wished he was invisible.
"You should have been up hours ago," she snapped, gesturing at the fireplace. "Your father and your brother are waiting, let's go."
Sirius stepped into the fireplace with her and held his breath so as not to inhale any flames. Seconds later, he found himself at Kings Cross station. His mother spun him around.
