CHAPTER THREE
GRACE'S POV
"Alam mo naman nang mabilis kang malasing, binilisan mo pa lalo ang pag-inom doon sa mga beer," I heard Winslet's irritated but worried voice said.
I groaned in response, and couldn't even open my eyes properly. "Y-You said, y-you wanted t-to get... wasted."
I felt Winslet softly hitting the back of my head. "G*ga. Ako lang ang magwa-walwal kasi sanay na ako. Eh ikaw? Dapat nga palit tayo ng pwesto eh."
I couldn't help but giggle. "B-But you love m-me so—" I hiccuped. "—you'll take c-care of me." I hiccuped again.
A soft mattress hit my back when I felt Winslet slowly putting me down. "Matulog ka nang babaita ka. Lulutuan kita ng soup tapos kapag nagising ka, initin mo na lang, okay?"
I nodded my head and let myself pass out. I didn't know what time it was but the sun was shining brightly outside when I suddenly woke up. I then forced myself to get up when I heard my tummy rumbling.
Just like what Winslet told me, she made me a soup and all I had to do was heat it up so I could drink the medicine that she left for me. I finally got the chance to look at the time and noticed that it was already one in the afternoon.
There were tons of newly received messages from my friends asking me if I was already awake, and some were about Winslet ranting her guts out because no one was with her at the moment.
I checked the group chat of the baliws and saw that Jelly was with her last night Ceyx, Abby was with the hunky porter named Zendrix— according to Winslet's message, and finally, Korin had an unofficial guest but no one dared to ask since Korin clearly said not to worry about her and just let us enjoy our vacation as we all please.
I was enjoying the soup when I heard a knock on the door. Thinking it was one of my friends—specifically, Winslet, I quickly opened it, only to end up wanting to frown. "How can I help you?" I forced myself to be nice and accommodating.
He stared at me for a couple of seconds before clearing his throat. "Miss Chui, I really want to know your opinion about your current issues—"
I motioned my hand to stop him from taking it further. "Mr. Reporter, what part of I don't want to talk about it do you not understand?" I tried to calm myself down. I'm pissed that he's persistent about this, but I'm even more pissed that even if I don't like his actions and words, I couldn't help but admire his physical features!
"I understand that Miss, but this is my line of work—"
"And why should I care about it?" I finally raised an eyebrow, but it automatically went down when I felt my head throbbing. I still haven't taken the medicine. Ugh! "Leave me alone, okay?" I tried to lightly massage my temples. "I'm having my hangover, and my head is killing me. So just leave."
I was about to step back when I felt my world turning. I knew I was going to fall but a strong pair of hands quickly held my waist. "Careful, Miss. Aalalayan na kita papunta sa loob, sa upuan niyo."
I wanted to shake my head sideways, but it'll only worsen the pain. "I can... I can handle myself."
"I beg to disagree, Miss."
I was going to glare at him but when I raised my head a little, I noticed the very short distance between us. I could not stop myself from once again admiring his charming features until my eyes fell on his delectable lips.
I don't know why but I knew it was me who was closing our distance until I heard him clear his throat. "M-Miss Chui, ihahatid na po kita sa upuan mo."
Embarrassment filled my whole system as I let him guide me toward the sofa. Even when my head was pounding and I wanted to scream badly, I remained calm and watched the reporter's movements.
He reached for my half-finished bowl of soup and walked toward me. He knelt on one knee and took a spoonful of soup before bringing it up to my lips. "I know that you still don't trust me, and I doubt that you will anytime soon, but I want you to know that as a fan, I want my celebrity idol to stay safe and healthy," he confessed, staring deep into my eyes, and once again hypnotizing me.
And because of what he was doing, I opened my mouth and accepted his offer to help me for the time being. Once finished, he reached for my medicine and stood up to get me a glass of water before giving them both to me. "Thanks."
He let out a small smile and nodded a little. "Gusto ko lang malaman niyo po, Ma'am, na hindi po ako titigil hangga't hindi ako ang unang makakakuha ng side niyo ho sa kumakalat niyong issues," he honestly said when I was finally feeling a bit better.
I stared intently into his eyes. "Daemon, right?" He nodded. "You told me that you're a fan of mine, then why can't you just respect my decision when I told you no?"
He took a deep breath. "I actually have two reasons, Miss." Daemon seemed so serious. "One is that I'm a fan, and as a fan, I want to clear up your name. And two, it's my work, Miss. Kailangan kong magtrabaho, at ayon sa mga boss ko ay ito—ikaw ang trabaho ko."
I couldn't help the bitter scoff escaping my lips. "So what? You'll be promoted once you get my side?"
Daemon eagerly nodded. "Of course, Miss. And that has always been a dream of mine."
His honesty... I couldn't help but compare him with Abby. I used to like her honesty because it's fun and I'm happy that in this world full of plastic people, she still exists.
I continued to stare into his eyes before I looked away and searched for my phone. He has something he wants from me, and I want something that he might give me.
Once I grabbed a hold of my phone, I gave it to him. "Put your number there."
Daemon seemed surprised and just stared at my phone then at my face then back on my phone and finally at my face. I couldn't help but flatly look at him. "B-Bakit po?"
I shrugged. "If I ever feel like saying my side, I'll personally contact you. Wouldn't that be better?" After a couple of seconds of him staring at me, I moved my hand to take my phone back. "Never mind—"
"I-I would like that, Miss." He quickly took my phone from my hand and typed his number before giving it back to me. "H-Here you go, Miss Chui. Thank you so much." Daemon slightly bowed.
I took a deep breath before slowly trying to stand up. Daemon automatically moves to catch me if I ever stumble. "Now, would you mind leaving my cabin? I'll call you if I ever feel like talking."
The charming reporter quickly nodded with a smile on his face. "Salamat po ulit nang marami, Miss Chui." I just nodded and walked him out of the cabin. I thought he was gonna leave immediately, but he stopped in front of the door and seriously looked at me. "Pero kumusta na po ang pakiramdam niyo? Kaya mo na po bang gumalaw-galaw nang hindi nahihilo?"
I was a bit confused by his actions. He obviously got—well, somehow got what he came here for and yet, he acts like he sincerely cares. I couldn't help but shake my head in my mind. "I'm fine. I'll just take a short nap, and I'll be okay."
Daemon nodded and smiled once again. "Okay then. I'll wait for your call, Miss." I nodded. "But also feel free to call me if you need any help po, Miss. I'll be there in a heartbeat."
I just ignored his words and stayed silent until he finally moved and walked away. Finally, at peace. I closed the door and walked back to my bed. I stared at my phone and sighed. Just what in crazy's name did I just do?
