CHAPTER FIVE
GRACE'S POV
I woke up with a heavy feeling keeping me from sitting up. I wanted to know where I was and what time it was but my eyes won't let me.
"Hindi kita pinagkakatiwalaan pero kailangan kong umalis saglit. Kapag may nangyaring masama kay Grace, tumakbo ka na, pupugutan kita ng dalawang ulo." I know I'm awake and I could clearly hear Winslet's voice but I don't know who she's talking to. I am even assuming that she didn't see me move—though I actually can't.
There was a short pause before someone finally spoke. "I'll take care of her, Ma'am. But I still want to behead the man who harassed her."
I suddenly froze upon hearing his voice. The reporter? "Oh sige sige." I heard the door open. "By the way, don't invade her innocence. As I said, I still do not trust you."
"I won't, Ma'am," Daemon answered and the door closed. So I assumed that it was just me and the reporter inside the room. I forced myself to move a little, but a hand held mine. "Don't move. I don't think you're already okay."
I took a deep breath and removed his hand. "I'll be fine. I'll get weaker if I do not move." Once again, I forced myself to sit on what I assume is a bed. I softly massaged my eyes so I could open them. And when I did, a worried reporter welcomed my sight.
"How do you feel? Are you hungry? I wanted to wake you up... para na rin makakain ka't makainom ng gamot, but your friends told me not to."
I couldn't help but chuckle. "Good thing that you listened to them."
He nodded and remained seated on the edge of the bed, a bit close to me. "Would you want something to eat, Miss?"
I let my back and head lean on the bed frame. I'm actually inside my cabin. I don't know how I got here but it's most likely because of my friends.
"Or do you want to sleep more, Miss?" he carefully asked.
I blinked before looking at him. "You may leave now," I nonchalantly said.
He stilled for a second "But, Miss—"
"I can handle myself now. You may leave." He doesn't really have to be here unless, of course, he wants me to be in debt to him.
But unfortunately, he stood his ground. "You're paler than this morning." Daemon slowly touched my forehead, which made me freeze. "At medyo mainit ka pa po." He removed his hand and stared into my eyes, determination was visible. "Alam ko pong pwedeng mainis kayo sa akin pero ayoko pong iwan kayo rito nang ganyan ang lagay niyo. Let me take care of you until you feel better, and then I'll leave, Miss."
My breathing hitched and I felt my heart beating faster than usual as I stared back at him. I don't know if he's just great at pretending but I only see genuine care and worry in his eyes. I suddenly hiccuped, which made my eyes slowly widen.
"Are you okay? I'll get you water, Miss." I hiccuped again and quickly covered my mouth with my hand as if it would stop me from hiccupping. As for Daemon, his movements were swift but careful, making sure that the glass of water wouldn't fall. "Here you go." He gave me the water and I just accepted it even if I didn't want to.
Okay. Seriously. This shouldn't happen. I am seriously not attracted to him. I mean physically speaking, maybe. He is pretty attractive but emotionally? Or anything deeper than that? No thanks. That is impossible. And I have a lot on my plate right now. I shouldn't be entertaining anyone, especially a reporter.
Daemon took the glass from me after I finished drinking, then he placed it on the bedside table. "Gusto mo na po bang kumain? I could cook for you, but if you don't trust me then we could just order from the hotel."
Don't you dare trust him, Grace! I hiccuped. He is not concerned about you, but about your career. I hiccuped again. "Sure... Just cook," I whispered, but he heard it because he nodded and left the bed again to go to the mini kitchen. What the hell are you doing, Grace‽
"May allergies ka po ba?"
I got out of my thoughts and blinked before looking at him. "What?
He was wearing an apron—where did he get that? Though, it actually looks good on him. Too good that I phased it out again.
I could see his mouth moving as if he was saying something but I couldn't hear it. I shook my head. "What again?"
Daemon softly smiled then chuckled, making me hiccup once again. Oh my god! I'm in trouble. "Nagtatanong po ako kung may allergies ka po. Baka kasi mas lalong lumala ang sakit mo kung maling pagkain ang inihain ko po sa iyo."
I hiccuped and blinked numerous times, before looking away. "I... I uhm—" Hiccup. "I-I have no allergies but I don't like shrimps."
"Noted po, Miss. No shrimp for Miss Grace Chui." He sounded cute, which caused me to hiccup once again.
I just kept looking around, trying not to let myself watch him cook, even though I knew it would be a sight to see. I was keeping myself busy but then after minutes, he spoke once again, making me look in his direction.
"Does it mean that I'm a shrimp? I mean in your perspective." My forehead creased, clueless about what he was talking about. "You don't like shrimps, you don't like me, therefore I'm your shrimp." He chuckled as if he found his words amusing.
As for me, I couldn't stop myself from flatly looking at him. Has he lost his head?
Finally, Daemon stopped laughing and continued cooking when he realized that I wasn't amused. He also kept his silence and just went beside me to give me my food. Uncomfortable as it may sound, Daemon just stared at me while I was eating. And of course, since I was uncomfortable, I can't help but ask him, "Why are you staring at me?"
His eyes widened in shock as if he was surprised that I even asked. "O-Oh. My apologies, Miss. It's just that it is my first time cooking for someone like you, and I want to know if you would like it—if it would suit your taste."
I blinked and looked at the bowl before looking back at him. "It tastes good." I looked down again to eat. "Thank you," I merely whispered.
I did not look back at him and just finished the bowl of soup. Once done and satisfied, I heard the door open and saw Winslet looking at me, then Daemon, then at the bowl, then back at me.
I blinked thrice. "Wins—"
Before I could even explain, Winslet's lips already formed a wide grin. "OMG. Bet. Okay. Sabi ko nga. Istorbo na naman ako. Babye! Enjoy!" But before leaving the cabin, Winslet looked back at the curious Daemon. "By the way, you have my blessings. Okay, bye!" Then she left, leaving an awkward air inside the cabin.
I don't get what the blessings are for, but I do know that I'm going to be the topic in our GC.
God! That bowl of soup is definitely dangerous.
