Today was mostly the same as yesterday for Nick, except he didn't get pushed on his face and have his journal pages read aloud. He had homework to hand in, work to do, and people to avoid. He didn't have a test today, or for the next few days, since they just started. However, in Social Studies, the teacher announced : "We are going to have a project. Yay!" Mrs. Kimo said cheerfully as everyone else moaned and cursed under their breaths. " Oh, hush hush. It's not going to be THAT hard. I am going to assign you with partners, you can't pick your own. I know what that's like from the past..." She said with a look of pure hatred on her face. "What is the project even about?" Someone asked, snapping her out of her own thoughts. "I will tell you now," She replied. "What we are going to do for the project is make a model of a Navtive American shelter. I will assign you and your partner a tribe to search up. Along with that, you need to write a 500 word essay explaining why the shelters were useful. Kapeesh?" There were a few mumbles and grumbles, but he was just hoping to not be stuck with someone who doesn't do any work at all. "Okay," she started. "Jimmy go with Michael. You have the Mohawk tribe." "Yes!" They said in unison, high-fiving each other. "Ellie with Sam. You have the Cree." They looked at each other and smiled. Sam moved up to Ellie and they started talking and even laughing. 'Wow, if only I could make friends that easily' he thought to himself, jealousy crawling into his heart. She called a few other names and tribes he couldn't even try to begin spelling until she finally called his name."Nick. Hmm... Who hasn't been called yet?" At this only one hand was raised into the air."Oh Zach! How could I forget you." Zach was a tall, shy boy who was 15. He had bright red hair that stuck out everywhere, but somehow he pulled it off. "Hi, I'm Zach" he said as he started walking towards me."Cool, I'm Nick. What tribe did we have again? I wasn't really paying attention." He responded,"I think she said Wampanoag." "Oh, ok. What's that?" Nick answered. "We'll find out soon enough." At lunch, Nick and Zach went to the library in their school to start looking at what they were dealing with. As soon as he sat down in the comfy wheely chair, he knew that he had made a friend.
A/N I'm really sorry that chapters aren't coming out as fast as I thought but State Tests and a full schedule are not helping. I apologize but the next chapter might not be out for a bit. Once again, I'm soooooo sorry. Plz forgive me!! 😢
