'one direction deserved better'
𝗧𝖮𝗗𝗔𝗬 was going to be a good day. That was precisely the rationale, Mariette Diaz had cultivated in her mind as she ogled herself in the wooden mirror.
Many affirmations and utterances sounded throughout her room as she finished getting ready for school. "I can handle anything that comes my way," She asserted fiercely as she put on her miniature-sized silver hoops, "A beautiful day begins with a beautiful mindset."
Mariette pulled taut on her low ponytail, withdrawing a single strand of opaque curled hair from the front portion of her head, letting it loosely drift naturally.
She did another once over of herself, smoothing down her navy blue heart sweater with a smile, "you're gonna be great, Mary." The sound of her phone humming on her bed shifted her attention away from the reflector and onto the pending notification on Instagram.
her brows knitted together when she saw what the direct message said, 'meet in the park after school.'
Mariette's crown buzzed when she read who it was from, 'Rob_Keene'. She bit her lip in apprehension as her nimble fingers thumped a response hastily. 'how did you get my insta?"
The three dots jumped onto the screen as soon sent the message making her belly churn. 'friend of a friend.'
She heaved her school bag onto her shoulder while simultaneously trying to come up with a witty reply, 'very cryptic of you but sure', It wasn't as clever as she hoped it to be but she still submitted it.
Mariette had hit the side button on her phone, turning the device off as she stood in the hallway, waiting for Miguel.
After a few moments, the luminous screen seized her attention once again. Her fingers pushed up the large-framed glasses that rested on her nose, looking at the proclamation that turned her phone back on, 'and bring some duct tape'
'what for exactly?'
' That's for me to know and for you to find out, angel. ;)'
Mariette rolled her eyes at his quips, reading the text a second time, trying to evaluate what he implied.
"Who's Robby?" Miguel asked over his cousin's shoulder. The girl leaped away from him, shielding her phone from his gaze, "none of your business." He shrugged, walking past her, "since when do you have friends?"
