The Maze Runner (Thomas Love Story)

Chapter 8

"Will you go out with me?" He asks

"Um,..." I start

What do I say? I just finished telling Newt I wasn't ready to date and then Thomas asks me out right after. What do I do?

"Gaby?" He asks

"Yea?" I ask

"You were kinda day dreaming. Did you hear what I said?" He asks

"Yea. And yes, I'll go out with you." I finally say

"Yes!" He says to himself but obviously I heard him

"I hope I made the right decision to date you." I said

"Trust me, I made the right decision to ask you out." He says

"I know I keep saying this but I really wanna get out of here." I said

"I know. Each day is just another day a misery." He says

"And our lives are always on the line." I said

"Let's go eat." He says changing the subject

"Alright." I said following him outside

We reach Frypan's kitchen and grab our lunch and sit with the guys again. While we were eating, Minho was at the edge of his seat and he accidentally fell and grabbed Newt's shirt so they both fell. I laughed so hard I turned red.

"Ok we know it's funny but it hurt. Thanks for your sympathy." Minho says

"Yea and next time grab Winston's shirt not mine." Newt says

"My shirt?! No no no he should just fall on his own." Winston said

We sit and talk and we finish our lunch and I head to my hut with Thomas. I can't stand it here. Only reason I'm staying alive and not in the Maze is because of my friends and my now called boyfriend. About two hours later I hear a couple of Gladers run to an area and yelling. Don't tell me the doors are open! I walk outside and thankfully it wasn't the doors. About seven to ten Gladers were surrounded around Thomas and Gally and they were fighting. As usual😒. As I'm watching all the way from my hut, Gally punches Thomas right in the face and I automatically speed walk over there.

"Gally what the hell?!!!" I yell

"Look who came, it's little miss sunshine." He says waving his hands in the air

"Oh you won't be seeing sunshine after I punch the living daylights out of you!" I yell as I pull my fist back getting ready to punch him but three of the boys pull me back

"Why are you always making all the trouble?!" I yell

"I'm not! You are!" He yells back

I finally loose the three boy's grip and punch Gally in the face. He returns the favor by giving me a punch in the face as well.

"Hey! You can't hit a girl!" I yell turning red

"Those rules don't apply here!" He yells back

"They apply everywhere!! Even here!" I yell back

I feel my forehead and see that I'm bleeding

"Rule #2, never harm another glader. Alby told me the rules when he gave me a mini tour." I said looking straight into Gally's eyes

"Alby's not here." He said

"Who cares? His rules still apply. You just broke a rule. We should put you in the Maze instead." That's all I said and then helped Thomas off the ground and we headed back to our hut

"How hard did he punch you?" I ask

"Clearly harder then he did to me, your bleeding." I says concerned

"Don't worry, I'll be fine." I said

"No, you won't be. Here." He says taking a piece of cloth and a small bowl filled half way with water

He puts the piece of cloth in the water and then puts the wet cloth on the side of my forehead

"Thanks." I said

"Any time." He says

After he cleans my wound we stay up a while longer since Thomas has to go in the Maze early in the morning. We talk about the memories we have had when we were sleeping.

"Oh yea, I need to write my name on the wall." I said

"No you don't. I wrote it on the wall for you." Thomas says

"Oh. Thanks, again." I said

"No problem." He replies

"Night Thomas." I said going to sleep

He turns off the lantern and it's pitch black. As I'm sleeping, I don't have memories, but the same voice that was in my other dreams keeps repeating the same thing over and over again:

"Remember, WICKED is good."

"WICKED is good-is good."

What does it mean? What does WICKED stand for?
