CHAPTER FORTY-SIX
VERITATE

●○●○●

The aftermath of the wedding went by so swiftly that despite that night feeling almost thoroughly ruined by the incident where Jacob Black lost all sense of control, Eve awoke the next day feeling ordinary. It was a feeling she hadn't felt in a rather long time and upon allowing her hazy brown eyes to gaze across her bedroom, she felt fine. Life, simply, felt at peace.

Additionally, that day progressed smoothly; she spent all of the morning watching reruns of Seinfield, then when the afternoon rolled around, she had tidied up her tiny abode and dinner left brewing on the stove and by nighttime, when nearly all of the Tobin household was asleep all except for her did she reunify with Paul. He had texted her previously to slipping inside her bedroom through her window and when she walked into her room with a bowl of reheated spaghetti and meatballs conjured especially for him, she was not at all unprepared. In fact, she expected him to promptly drag his feet towards her and apologize for not appearing sooner for Jacob was, in his words, an asshole who wholly ruined the rest of the night; although the couple agreed before the events of him appearing, it was absolutely perfect. That night ended with Paul snarfing down his food before snuggling underneath Eve's covers and pulling her small body on top of his where several minutes did they allow their lips to familiarize once again before drifting off to sleep.

Now, it was a dreary Friday morning and Eve was walking up the steps of her high school. School has been back in session for a week now and already did she feel life was running by too quickly for her to keep up. This was the year; the one spent figuring out where to go for college, preparing for graduation, and questioning one's life after one's finished this milestone.

Already did she have a bunch of college junk thrown in her face on the first day and all she could focus on besides this was making it to class on time. Of course, she was always early, but she had to be the first one in. And as her converse slap against the tiled floors as she straightaways to her classroom, she grins fervently as Milo walks beside her. With his long legs does he pass her, but with her feet kicking just a tad bit harder does she gain speed and soar past him.

As quick as they were, upon arrival at their destination, they were struck with disappointment when taking notice of someone else entirely arriving first to class. Regardless of this loss, the two friends locate a pair of seats and automatically rest. The teacher was absent currently and the kid who arrived in class first was snoozing away in the furthest seat in the back.

Milo twisted his head back at them and frowns. "Someone didn't sleep."

"Neither did I," Eve mentions after staring at the board which entails the lesson plan for the day.

"How come?"

"Paul and I were texting," she answers and sighs when she recalls at one moment it was not even 10 PM and suddenly, after texting Paul for what felt like an hour turned out to be almost four. The boy who already achieved his diploma was a bit hurt when Eve had to explain that she had to sleep for she had school the next day while promising they would hang out today. He agreed, but not without blowing kisses on the line and repeating how much he adored her. "For a long time."

"You two are so attached to each other. "

"I don't know if-" Eve glances back to the snoozing student before leaning close to Milo and whispering so lowly that he could barely interpret her, "-it's because of the Imprint bond or not. The stuff's weird."

"Dating and befriending wolves and vampires is weird."

As she leans back, she bobs her head. "No lying there."
