My heart was jumping in my chest. I could feel it from the tips of my toes all the way into my ponytail. My phone buzzed, once again, giving me another alert indicating there was another text. My mind wouldn't allow me to turn over the phone. When I finally did, I was surprised at what I found.
HiSorry I haven't texted for a while, my mom got caught up in the scrapes from the bike accident. She didn't see them until now.
How are you?Maisie?
I couldn't breathe. My fingers shook and I nearly dropped my phone.
How can I possibly respond? What if he doesn't like me because I'm weird when I text?"MAISIE, DINNER'S READY" my mom called from the kitchen.
I quickly typed.
Dinner's ready. I've got to go. Can we talk later?
I was curious as to how he would respond, but I didn't have time to find out. I ran to the kitchen, walking carefully up the steps. My knee still hurt from the bike accident, but luckily it was nothing I couldn't handle. After dinner, I washed up and tried stitching up the torn dress. I looked at it with a sense of fear to what would happen to it. My mind wandered as I sat in front of the full length mirror laid perfectly between my windows. I inched closer and straightened it for a few minutes before I took off the dress and changed into sweats. The dress was a nuisance, anyway. Not to say I wouldn't miss it.
Authors note:
I was going through my phone, only to find wattpad, an all I haven't looked at in a long time. I'm sorry the story has been absent for so long, I'm getting back on it. Thanks for 200+ views! I can't wait to write more. I also realize that Maisie never told Emmett her name, an error I forgot to include.Discussion questions:
What do you think of Emmett's trxting style?
Is Maisie a little too slow to respond?Leave a comment on your answer to these questions.
Love, Livie
