Mended by Destiny

Chapter 2

Caleb was aware of everything that happened to him. He remembered his name, age, his family, his life – everything. Even the way he became a ghost. Yes, that's right. He was a ghost after he died in a car accident. He was heading home from work when a drunk driver drove right into his car. He felt so much pain. Then he remembered smelling blood before darkness ate his vision. And then... he woke up in an unfamiliar apartment.

At first, he thought that he was dreaming about the accident. Or that maybe, his parents took him home. However, when he looked around the place, he was confused. He has never been in that apartment before. He passed by a mirror when he was walking around and that's when he realized that he couldn't see himself. It freaked him out and if he was alive, he would have fainted. But he was dead. This thought crashed down on the man and he felt like crying because he couldn't do anything he wanted to. He had no time to do it now.

After some time of pitying himself, he tried to leave. But he couldn't. People say that ghosts can fly or walk through the walls because they are not alive anymore. But Caleb found out that he couldn't pass through the wall. He could only walk through the opened door. And yet, he was unable to leave the apartment. He didn't know why, but he gave up on trying and instead spent his time looking at things properly. He saw few photos of very beautiful girl, smiling brightly which made Caleb smile in return. The woman in that picture was adorable and he found himself craving to meet her. Which came true later in the evening. The door opened and the said woman walked in. She was even more beautiful up close, and Caleb felt the happiness build inside of him. The female was smiling and blushing. And Caleb was wondering what could have happened for her to be this happy. He watched her. Watched how she cooked while swaying her hips, how she sang along some song, and how she ate before she retired to her bedroom to sleep. Caleb felt pang of sadness that he couldn't talk to the woman. He didn't know why he felt like that. He didn't know her at all. But he felt contented with watching her, in the end.

Couple of days passed – very long, boring days when the woman wasn't at home. But Caleb couldn't stop smiling, because each time the owner of the apartment would come home, she would be smiling and blushing. Sometimes even sighing happily. The ghost boy was very curious about why Hanna (he found out her name) looked so happy. And he got his answer the next day, when she entered the place with a man, smiling and holding hands. Caleb didn't like the other guy's vibe – there was something bad about him. But he seemed to make Hanna happy, so it was okay. What he didn't expect though, was to see the two of them to start making out passionately until the place was filled with pleasured moans and groans. Caleb was blushing furiously and tried to get as far from the bedroom as he could, doing his best to tune out all those lewd sounds. Of course, he felt himself reacting to Hanna's moans and he felt embarrassed and ashamed. Those moans weren't meant for him to hear.

It was the first night he endured the act, but it wasn't the last. More nights and days like those came and Caleb started hating the place he was trapped in. Just because he found himself wishing, that he could be the one with the beautiful woman. The ghost was easily attached to people even when he was alive, you see. He was a soft kind of guy who liked pleasing people. And he always chose his lovers based on their hearts, not appearances. And now, "living" with Hanna made him see just how amazing she was.

Soon, Hanna's boyfriend – Dany – started practically living in that apartment. He was there every second or third day, making Hanna stay at home most of the time, which was nice. But she still had to work, and Dany stayed in her place anyway. It was one day when Hanna was working, that Dany brought there some woman. Caleb was surprised, thinking that it was his friend or maybe a family member, but what happened next opened his eyes. Hanna's boyfriend cheated on her. Caleb got angry and screamed at the man, but as expected, no one heard him. It was terrible, and the ghost boy's heart clenched painfully at the thought of Hanna, who had no idea what was happening. Why? Because the bastard acted all lovey-dovey with her when she came home.
