[Leila]
I waved the little girl goodbye and watched as she asked her mom to open the lollipop I just gave her. I was now working in one of the biggest hospitals, the same hospital as my dad.
My phone started ringing and I looked at the caller to see that it was Nick. We started dating a 7 months ago, after 4 years of him trying to win me over. I was just so busy with college and, well, worrying over Silas.
It's been five years since I last saw him. I honestly think something has happened to him but then we would know. Someone would tell us if Silas was no more.
I love Nick, but I'm not really inlove with him. Nick is a super sweet guy and he has a stable life, working as a lawyer. Maybe it will take some time for me to be completely and utterly inlove with him, but I have to figure out myself first.
Wether it's because of Silas or if Nick just isn't the one for me, or if I'm just gay at this point. I'm too engrossed in my career that I sometimes seem to use it as an escape from all of that. I just ignore my love life by keeping myself busy with my job.
"Hey babe," Nick said from the other side. "When should I pick you up?"
"Hey. I'll finish up by five. I'll meet you outside when I'm done." I told him then said my goodbye.
It's my birthday, today, I'm turning 23. I can't believe that I went this far, becoming a doctor is a dream come true. My parents were so proud of me, which made me happy.
"Doctor, Leila! We need you in room 301," the nurse, Marceline, said. I nodded and took the gloves from her then sanitized my hands.
She started telling me about the patient as we walked, "He's five years old. He didn't come here with his parents, though, so we can barely calm him down. The person who he came here with says that his dad is on his way."
I opened the door, the screaming and crying could be heard all the way down the hall. I saw young boy with brown hair, tan skin and green eyes, the person who came with him was trying to calm him down but it was no use.
I gestured for the person holding him to let him go. When the young boy saw me he stopped screaming, though his body was still trembling.
"Hey there," I said walking closer to the bed he was on. "Why are you scared? What happened?" I whispered in an attempt to have him calm down. "What's your name?"
"R-Raven," he choked out between sobs.
"I'm Leila, nice to meet you, Raven." I smiled at him. "May I come closer?" I asked him. He nodded and I walked towards the bed, crouching down next to him.
"Where does it hurt?" I asked him and he pointed to his left arm, it looked red and slightly swollen. It might be fractured or just twisted, so I have to get him to agree to making an x-ray.
"Do you like superheroes?" I asked him as I looked at Marci, silently asking her to prepare the x-ray machine.
"Yes, I really like spiderman." He smiled, wiping his tears with the good arm.
"Me too! How about we do something very adventurous? Only brave, brave superheroes can do." I beamed, temptingly.
"Of course! What is it?" He stood on the bed, ready to follow me anywhere. I held my hands out for him so I can carry him there, seeing as he was barefoot.
I took him to the kids x-ray room that was decorated with children stuff and full of toys. I sat him down on the bed and went to fetch him a bunch of spiderman toys that where kept on a shelf.
