Chapter 1,
A Mysterious Statue
Ding!Ding!Ding!
I Jolt myself awake and reach for my phone, desperately tapping it hoping to turn the alarm off. I chuckled to myself, it's my senior year and I've still not adapted to the sound of the alarm. I check my phones messages and see i have a group message from my history teacher Mrs. Smith the message reads.
"Good morning students, remember to be at your bus stop by 6:30 today. Also, remember to bring extra money for the field trip if you want to buy any snacks or drinks. Mrs Smith."
When I checked the time it's 5:00 am, I decided to hop in the shower and pick out my outfit for the day, it was birsk outside so I put on a blue hoodie with blue denim jeans. I walk down the stairs "Good morning mom." I said she responded with a smile and said "Good morning dear, I made you some breakfast and your dad left $10 on the table." I sat down and scarfed down the breakfast which consisted of crispy bacon, sunnyside eggs, and lastly pancakes. I walked out of my house and went down and waited by the bus stop. After a couple of cold minutes the yellow school bus pulled up and the door popped open. I stepped up onto the bus and sat down in the middle aisle seat,
Mrs. Smith walks over to me while smiling and says "Good morning, Ross are you excited for the trip to the Cleveland Museum?" I respond with a thumbs up.
A few hours later..
We arrive at the museum and a tour guide comes up to greet us. She says "Greetings Invictus High School! And welcome to the Cleveland museum, on this tour we will tour the Greek section covering some of the gods and their ways of life."
We start to follow her and she shows us around the museum, delicately crafted Greek statues surround us but one stood out a statue of the god Hermes, he had a near yellow glow around him. I ask my classmates, "Hey, do you guys see that glow around Hermes?' I'm met with awkward looks and head shakes
I curiously walked towards and reached out my hand to touch the statue when all I saw was pitch black and heard the screams of my classmates surrounding me.
Chapter 2- The New City
I am flung through this darkness when suddenlyTHUMP
I hit the ground hard,a voice echoed out in front of me. "Hey you! Are you okay? How did you just fall through the statue of Hermes?" I respond 'I don't know! I was just at the museum and fell through the statue." He responds "You must have hit your head my friend, but I can't pinpoint your accent where are you from?"
I respond "Ohio"
"Ohio? I never heard of that, what part of Greece?"
That's when I knew something was wrong. I use this time to really analyze my surroundings and there was no hint of modern technology around me.
He accepts my silence and says "Well my name is Vassilas and I am the farmer here, make sure to stop by the medical ward so they can check out that head injury."'I walk down a dirt part through the city and I really acknowledge the beauty of it, spirals perfectly curving at the top of each building with a beautiful sunrise being in front of me. I walked down to the market square which was made of sturdy little wooden stands with each vendor having a different assortment of items, each labeled with their name and the products they sell. I continue walking down the path until I see a beautiful villa surrounded by beautiful trees with architecture we could hardly imagine today. But also something strange, the pathway is surrounded by statues of Medusa with her eyes closed which all seem to be watching me. And I nearly feel like I hear them whispering to me.
Suddenly, two guards armed with razor sharp swords, walk out of the villa doors. One of the guards steps forward and says "You, new guy come with us, the Archon wishes to speak with you."
I tried to respond in protest but they immediately grabbed my arms and forced me up the stairs into the villa. They bring me up the stairs where I see an older man with balding hair wearing beautifully woven clothes and silks I could only hope to afford. The guards release me the man starts to speak
"Thank you, Aegeus and Alessandro, you are free to resume guarding."
The guards quickly exit the room and the man starts to speak to me
"Greetings, I am sorry about the unwarm welcome but I needed you up here to speak with me. If my guards haven't already told you I am Christios, the city Archon, what's your name if you don't mind?"
I responded "My name is Ross, why do you need to speak to me?"
"Well, this city is doomed to fail."
"What do you mean doomed to fail? It seems fine to me."
"Follow me. It would be easier to show you."
He leads me down the stairs to what seems to be a basement of sorts. He unlocks the door and I immediately see statues of people turned to stone but still blinking and seem to be breathing. The Archon says "This was the people before us, and when we got here we found this tablet." He handed me to tablet, It said
"THE MANY SHALL SUFFER FOR THE SIN OF ONE"
"What does this mean, I am so confused what were these people killed by?The Archon replies "I can only infer they broke this city rule but this leads me on to what I'm saying next, I created that portal in the statue of Hermes which means this city failed. And this, is the fate of our civilization. Please, help us..."
