The helicopter ride lead to a bus ride. And the bus never slowed down. For the entirety of the two hour trip, nobody spoke a single word. The only contact anybody had was Thomas and I, gripping onto each other's hands like our lives depend on it. Maybe it does. Anyway, the bus pulled into a muddy parking lot that seemed to be encircling a large building with several rows of windows. Where we are, I don't know. What we're doing, I don't know. If we're safe, nobody really knows at all. The man, along with the other rescuers, shuffled the 19 boys and single girl, which is obviously me, through the front door and up the stairs so quickly, nobody would be able to tell that each and every Glader was completely exhausted. They lead us to a huge dormitory with bunks along one wall and dressers and tables along the other. Windows covered in curtains were places on each wall of the room. To my despair, the rescuers lead me to a completely different room from the other Gladers, which Newt, Thomas and Minho especially had a lot to say about. I could still here them yelling profanities as the rescuers put me in my room and left me there. I groaned to myself, knowing I couldn't win with this. After standing, staring at my room for a moment, I decide to take a shower. Scrubbing my body carefully and washing my hair out three times, I finally step out of the shower and dry myself off. I have my own bed assigned to me, and some clothes folded neatly in the bathroom, but apart from that, there isn't much. Although the colourful room is definitely a nice, refreshing change from the dull, grey Glade. Pizza. That's what I had for dinner. Proper greasy-finger pizza with a stringy cheese topping. They gave me an entire pizza to myself, and I finished it all off.
A woman comes to check on me, who knows how much later, and tells me to rest well. She also told me that there's a button I can press if I need her for anything. Walking towards my bed, I realize that I've never really slept by myself. Normally, boys in the Homestead, or even outside surround me on my hammock next to Thomas and Chuck. But there is no Chuck. Not anymore. When I'm sure that there are no more people wandering about, I tip-toe out of my room and try to find the room the other Gladers are in. it isn't too difficult, because most of them are chatting quietly to themselves so I open the door, letting light from the corridor fill the otherwise dark room. Everyone turns their head to look at me, and I have to smile.
"It's weird seeing you all look healthy and not completely dirty." I muse, closing the door behind me. Immediately, arms wrap themselves around my body and I rest my head on the person's chest, knowing exactly who it is."Miss me?" I whisper teasingly, looking up and seeing Thomas's dark eyes illuminated in the low lighting.
"He started moaning about how much he bloody missed you three seconds after you were gone." Newt complains and I smile warmly at him. At least he hasn't changed.
"What brought you to this side of the... building?" Minho chips in, not sure how to make this situation sarcastically humorous as he normally does.
"Truth me told, I missed all of you guys." I admit, making every single person go 'Awwwwwww' loudly. "Alright, alright. Where am I sleeping?" Abruptly, everyone starts volunteering for me to sleep in their bed, which makes me laugh a little.
"You touch, you die." Thomas warns, making the cheers disappear in a matter of seconds. I grin as Thomas sits down on the bed that I assume is his, patting the seat next to him. Minho already climbed on the top bunk, clearly done with everything for today.
