"It's strange having this much space." Thomas muses, making me chuckle quietly.
"It's definitely bigger than your hammock." I add.
"Can you two stop flirting? Some people are trying to digest their shuckin' food before throwing all of it up again." Minho says from above us, making us moth roll our eyes. Thomas wraps his arms carelessly around my body, cuddling me closer to him.
"I love you." he whispers, causing a large smile to break out on my face.
"I love you too, Tommy." I can tell that probably hurt him a little, due to him stiffening up slightly. Chuck called him Tommy. The thought of Chuck makes my heart ache painfully, the way it did when he died. Because Chuck was too young. Too innocent. He could have had so much going for him once we got out of that stupid, stupid Maze.
"Hey, Thomas." Minho says from the bunk above, a couple of minute. I stay silent, mostly because I don't want to interrupt their conversation, partially because I think Minho thinks I'm asleep.
"Yeah?" Thomas sounds tired, as if he had to physically force words out of him.
"What do you think happened to the Gladers who stayed behind?" Minho's question surprises me, since I haven't actually thought about that. My mind's been occupied with Chuck, Thomas and the Gladers here. Not even Gally crossed my mind.
"I don't know." Thomas admits, not knowing what else to say. I lean towards him and whisper something in his ear, telling him to tell Minho that."Based on how many of us died getting here, I wouldn't like to be one of them right now. Grievers are probably swarming all over them." Thomas repeats my words.
"Kaya, are you awake?" Minho questions, making me cough to stifle my laughter at Thomas's clearly offended expression.
"Hey!" he whines.
"Well, is she?" I can practically sense Minho smirking.
"Maybe." Thomas mumbles, burying his face in my hair.
"You think we're safe with these people?" Minho asks, next.
"Yeah." Thomas finally concludes. "I think we're safe." Nobody says anything else, and I don't think anybody needs to. We don't know anything about the future, but we can hope that it'll be better than what we left behind. For the first time in days, I slept. And I actually slept well. My eyes open at the sound of whispering sounds, confusing me slightly. I turn my head and see Thomas talking in his sleep. I smile, leaning down to peck Thomas's cheek quickly. Lazily, his eyelids open and he smiles once he sees me.
"Hi." He whispers, his voice scratchy from just waking up. I don't reply and just grin, pressing my lips to his. "Okay." Thomas mumbles, making me pull away to laugh quietly.
"Not a good greeting?" I tease, making Thomas instantly shake his head.
"Perfect." He assures me, leaning over and kissing me again. Our lips move against each other in sync as Thomas pulls the cover on the bed over us both, making us both burst into laughter.
"GUYS!" Minho shouts from the top bunk. "Can you two keep the baby making down?" I blush along with Thomas as a lot of Gladers start chuckling.
"You know we would. But now that you've mentioned it..." I trail my voice off, kissing Thomas and we both make over-exaggerated kissing sounds.
"Bloody disgusting." Newt teases and we part, laughing again. "Now shut up and sleep." Everyone whines childishly but, of course, they do so anyway because they're all so incredibly sleep deprived.
"I can't sleep." I whisper to Thomas.
"Me either." He admits. "I wonder what we could do to pass time..."
"Charades?" I joke and Thomas rolls his eyes, pecking my lips quickly.
"Not what I had in mind." Thomas confesses, sending me a wink.
"Now I'm definitely trying to sleep." Thomas gasps, feigning hurt and I smile, snuggling into his side.
"G'night Jane." Thomas mumbles, drowsy all of a sudden, which I can oddly relate to.
"G'night Tommy." I don't even realize that he called me Jane because the name rolls of his tongue so naturally, it's familiar.
