Bad things come in threes

We've all heard the saying; bad things come in threes. Never was this more apparent than the Lestrange siblings, they weren't always bad-quite the contrary in fact- i suppose that's what makes their story so tragic, they tried so hard to escape their fate they didn't realise they were running straight towards it. It seems i'm getting carried away, trying to tell the ending before the tale has even begun; perhaps to warn you, perhaps to gain the Lestrange siblings some well deserved sympathy. But whatever you may think of them, they all deserved better. After all evil is a product of its environment.

Perhaps we better start with introductions. First came Atlas Cygnus Lestrange, born March 31st 1976 to Bellatrix Lestrange and Rodolphus Lestrange. One thing you should note about Atlas is he was a complete mystery to anyone who knew him, he allowed you to believe you knew every inch of him when in reality even a psychic couldn't guess his worst fear. He was a complete mystery to all of us, yet also an open book; he just chose which tales he told.

Soon later arrived Odette Electra Lestrange, born May 11th 1978. A devil masked by an angels exterior, she had this ethereal kind of captivating beauty that compelled you to ignore the deathly impulses behind her smile, the kind that wills you to continue to fall in love despite the interior no longer being recognisable as the Odette you once knew, the kind that destroys you from within, the kind that destroyed her from within. She wasn't always evil incarnated, she had this kindness and love that ran deeper than she could handle- perhaps that's what destroyed her in the end. Perhaps she just couldn't handle the soul aching demands of love.

And finally Astra Narcissa Lestrange was born on February 23rd 1980. Astra was like a sunflower among thorns, a radiant soul that brought a new form of happiness and light into the Lestrange household- that was before the events of her fourth year at Hogwarts might i add. Love destroyed Astra in an entirely separate way to the way it destroyed Odette. Astra allowed herself to love with her entire being, eventually that love consumed her. The sunflower slowly died and in its place grew a lily, the radiance and light turned to an eery darkness, almost like a dark cloud over a lake. Astra was drowning, in every sense of the word.

In fact remembering them has enticed me to rethink my first statement, bad things may come in three, however i do not truly believe the Lestrange siblings to be bad. They were misunderstood entirely, there was bad of course, but there was also a great capacity for love within each of them. If there wasn't then surely none of us would have cared for them, yes, if there was only bad in place of the good then they wouldn't be worth remembering. And believe me when i say this, they are worth remembering.
