I thought it was only a one-time thing. I didn't expect it to happen every single night. I would vividly see the demon. And every time, he would spout something disturbing.
The moment I wake up, I would convince myself that he was gone. But his traces remain. His voice would linger in my ears and his face would flash into my mind.
I became cooped up in my room for the entire week. I didn't go out. I didn't sleep either. I would drink a lot of coffee to get rid of the sleepiness but as soon as my consciousness fades away, he would show up.
At the eighth night, I went out of the house and took my bike Daniel gave me. It was something on his garage but then he never used it. Said he doesn't know how to ride a bike.
I didn't spend too much fixing it, but I bet it was really expensive. Someone asked me if they could buy it for 10 grands. Of course, I refused.
I was driving on the neighborhood aimlessly, not caring if the dogs are going crazy barking louder and louder everytime I pass by. But when I was about to go home, I saw Ely with his massive skateboard. He glanced around, watching out for someone who would see him, but good thing I was out in the darkness. He couldn't see me, but I could see him. He put his hood over his head and skated away.
I don't know why but I had the strong urge to follow him. I don't usually care about him. But a perfect son my mom adored sneaked out of the house. In the middle of the night. Alone and with his skateboard no one ever knew that existed.
Plus, if he met any danger, he would be completely defenseless. He's skinnier that most girls at school, and his face was similar to mine. In other words, he's pretty.
What? Male rape happens, too. And murder as well.
I followed him but had a hard time doing so since he was too fast. He's practically flying. Is this what he was doing every night?
He halted on the corner, and I did too, my bike made a soft screeching noise that I hoped was barely audible to him. I hid beside a huge trashcan and saw one of familiar face waiting for him. He was standing over there, with a skateboard on his arms. He smiled as he saw my brother.
That smile was weird. And what was weirder is that it came from Luke. My seatmate.
Wait. They know each other. How? I mean, he's my seatmate but I barely even know him. Is he his friend?
Luke went near my brother (like invasion-of-private-space type of near), but he pushed him away and Luke just chuckled. I felt chill ran up my spine. Luke pulled Ely's hood and whispered him something. My eyes squinted since supposedly, nobody was around but why are they whispering.
And then I get it. Luke knew I was here. Maybe he knew someone was watching them, but they didn't know it was "me". He was aware and he had to whisper it to Ely.
How dumb are you thinking I wouldn't realize it?
Then, my naïve brother looked around, making it more obvious and Luke just had to slap his forehead. They were talking for a bit, but I still couldn't hear them clearly. So what's the point of whispering then?
Luke went away first, skating quicker and more gracefully than Ely did. After him, Ely went away too but he was going to a direction that was different from Luke went into.
I rolled my eyes. It was obvious that they were trying to catch me. But I don't care if they did. I was just bored fighting my sleepiness away so that I wouldn't have to deal with nightmares.
I followed Ely and then as I was going further, more and more people riding on skateboard passed by me. The road was getting brighter as more streetlights were lit but less buildings were standing. Were heading into a place that was isolated during the day.
