I stand in the doorway of the great hall, waiting for Chadd. What's taking him so long? I think, rubbing my bar arms. I'm wearing a that goes down to my thighs and My is pulled up in a half up half down braid and the rest is curled. I'm wearing no makeup but I still feel too dressed up. I mean like I am meeting the king and queen but like, do I need to look this good?
Chadd whistles, "Hey, cutie!"
I roll my eyes, "Really, Chaddy?"
He narrows his eyes and shakes his head, "No, I don't like that nickname." (We both laugh) "Come on, my parents are in the courtyard."
We walk out of grand doors. I bite my lip, how on Earth am I supposed to hate it here when everything is so beautiful? A tall brunette male is standing with his back facing us. He has his arm around a blonde girl who is almost as tall as him, but she's wearing heels. I assume these are the king and queen. I bet you can guess who is who.
"Mom! Dad!" Chadd calls, racing forward to hug them.
They turn around. "Son!" the king calls.
I politely walk forward, keeping my back straight. The way I was taught by Clover. "Your Majestys." I say, curtsying.
The queen giggles, "Oh, hold the formalities. Call me mom, I may as well soon be." she teases, winking at Chadd. "I've always wanted a daughter."
"Umm, okay, mom." The words tasted weird on my tongue.
She hugs me, "I don't think I caught your name."
"Indiana." I reply immediately, without thinking, almost as if I was a robot. I'm just so used to saying it, I don't even have any emotion while telling someone anymore.
"That's a beautiful name! Don't you think so hunny." The queen smiles, grabbing her husband's arm.
"Yes it is." he smiles at me, "I can already tell my son made a wonderful pick with you."
"Th-thank you." I stutter, grabbing for Chadd's hand. He smirks.
"You look beautiful darling." The queen continues to walk forward towards the castle.
Once they leave, Chadd grabs both of my hands and asks, "So what do you think? I know my mom can be a little eccentric and my dad can be a little harsh with his words but he means well."
I smile and burst out, "I love them!" I blush and look down, "I just don't remember having parents that amazing. I've always wanted parents. But umm what are their names? I want to refer to them as their names instead of king and queen, in my head."
Chadd laughs, "Catherine and Arthur. Come on, you hungry?"
I nod, following him through the castle and down into the kitchen. And damn, it's huge! There are at least 8 ovens and so much countertop space. I hop up on one of the islands.
"Make me something peasant." I tease.
He crosses his arm and rolls his eyes, "You that's literally the opposite. You make me something." He steps forward, wrapping his arms around my waist and kisses me.
Someone clears their throat in the doorway. Chadd and I look away from each other and blush. I look towards the door and a maid is standing there. I thought it was a little empty. Behind her a giant group of maids/butlers come in preparing to cook.
The maid from the doorway steps forward and introduces herself as Neelia. "Do you need something your highness?"
Chadd nods, still blushing, "Just a little snack."
