Sirius was so deep in thought that he didn't notice Remus had returned to the room until the other boy touched his arm, causing him to flinch back instinctively. Remus made a noise of anger at that and Sirius panicked.
Remus was mad at him. He knew that there was no way anyone could think of him as anything other than a disappointment. He should just go back to the Black house, where he belonged.

Remus growled in anger at the thought of what had made Sirius flinch away like that. He set the tray of food down on the table next to Sirius' bed and asked, "Sirius, what do you feel like eating?"
The other boy didn't respond, and he looked over to see his mate curled in a ball on the bed, staring blankly at the wall.
"Sirius? Sirius? Sirius!" he said as calmly as he could manage, panicking inwardly. Had he done something by accident that might have sent him into a panic attack? After a moment, he realised that the growl earlier might have made Sirius think that the werewolf was angry at him.
Recalling what his father did whenever Felix had a panic attack, he managed to get the other boy's breathing to slow down and waited until Sirius looked at him with clear eyes before he carefully pulled Sirius' far too thin body into his arms, making sure to leave him plenty of opportunity to pull away. He hugged him gently until the other stopped trembling.
"I'm not mad at you, Sirius. Shh, it's okay. I'm sorry for growling like that. It wasn't at you." Remus said, keeping up a stream of comforting words.

Sirius felt strong arms wrap around him and tensed up initially, but once he realised they weren't going to hurt him, he melted into their embrace. He couldn't remember the last time he'd been hugged.
Someone was murmuring in his ear and when he focused he could hear Remus saying, "-not mad at you, Sirius. Shh, it's okay."
He uncurled slightly and found that he was sitting on Remus' lap. Looking up, he was startled by how close he was to Remus' face. His eyes widened and he blushed, scrambling off Remus' lap hastily.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to react like that. Please don't make me go back to the Blacks." He pleaded desperately, afraid that the other wouldn't want him to be his mate anymore.
"You're never going back to that disgusting place." Remus said fiercely, reassuring him a little. "It's fine, I'm not upset with you for having a panic attack."

"Anyways..." Remus changed the subject, "Let's get you some food." He picked up the bowl of soup from the tray and held a spoonful up to Sirius' face. "Open up, lil one."
Laughing, Sirius did as he asked, allowing Remus to feed him. Deep inside, the dark haired teen felt warm at being cared for like this and felt an odd urge to let out a trilling sound.
Mr Lupin came back in just as Remus was convincing Sirius to eat the bread as well. He cleared his throat to get their attention.
"Sirius, if you're feeling better, I thought you might like to go in the garden for a while. It's lovely weather outside and Remus can come to make sure you don't get lost." He suggested.
Sirius face lit up. "I'd love to!" he exclaimed.
Remus insisted on carrying him there and after a half-hearted argument, Sirius relented, secretly enjoying being cared for like this.
