Chapter 1

Harry stared up at the trees turning shades of orange, yellow and red as his mum drove the car down the road. Harry reached up and messed with his hair that had been growing back in. He moved around the small amount of curly locks he had, a tuft of it easily falling out. He sighed, and took his hand away from his hair. "Do you think I'll ever be cured, mum?" Harry asked, looking at his mother. "I sure hope so, baby. Don't worry." his mum replied, glancing at him. Harry remembered when he was diagnosed with cancer. He had felt sick, and had a bruise that appeared out of no where. His mum took him to the doctor, and he then had to go to a different doctor to be checked and get a blood test. "Your son has acute lymphocytic leukemia.." he remembered the doctor say to his mum, and she had gasped and ran over to him and hugged him. Harry was diagnosed at the age of 14, and he was 17 now, going in for another treatment.

"See you next time you grown in.." he mumbled, and touched his hair again. "We're here." his mum said, and turned the car off. They got out, and walked into the hospital. "Hey Mrs. Anderson." Harry greeted the woman at the front desk. "How're you Harry?" she asked. "I'm good and you?" he returned. "Good, too." she said with a smile, and Harry and his mum continued walking down the hospital hall. They walked into their usual waiting room, and Harry layed on the bed and flipped through the TV channels. The person that usually occupied the other half of the room wasn't there this time, his problem had been taken care of.

The door swung open, and Harry glanced up to meet a beautiful pair of blue eyes. Harry sat up, watching as two people walked inside. "Hi,  I'm Harry." he introduced himself. "I'm Louis, and this is my mum." he said, pointing a thumb over his shoulder at his mum. Louis sat on the bed beside Harry's, and the two boys easily began a conversation. "So what're you here for?" Harry asked. "Well, the hospital I usually go to closed, so I have to go here now. I have acute lymphocytic leukemia." Louis said. "Me too! That's why my hair is barely here." Harry said with a laugh. Louis laughed too, and lightly tugged at a piece of his hair which came out instantly. "So are the doctors here good? Nice?" Louis asked. "Yeah, and they're all really nice." Harry said, looking Louis up and down. He had decided a few years back that he was bisexual, he couldn't deny the fact that he was attracted to some people of the same gender. And he was definitely attracted to Louis. "What room do you go in?" Harry asked, hoping they'd end up together. "Well, I have chemotherapy today, in Room 276, and next week I have a stem cell transplant, on Tuesday. I have chemotherapy every other Tuesday, and a stem cell transplant on the first Tuesday of every month." Louis said. "Are you kidding?! I have the exact same routine!" Harry said, grinning. Louis grinned back, and he was attracted to Harry too. "Harry Styles? Louis Tomlinson?" A voice interrupted, from the door. "Right here, Judy." Harry said, rising from the bed. "C'mon Louis." Harry said, taking his hand and pulling him up from the bed. "Mum, you can stay here." Louis said before she stood up. She nodded and sat back down, and continued chatting with Harry's mother. Harry didn't let go of Louis's hand, and Louis didn't try to disconnect their hands either.

They walked into the room, and were each told to lay on one of the beds. They both got IVs in their wrists for the treatment. The drug was already hooked up, and then it began running through the tube and into Harry and Louis's arms. Harry and Louis talked while the drug worked, fighting off the cancer cells. "How old were you when you were diagnosed?" Harry asked. "I was 13, what about you?" Louis said. "I was diagnosed when I was 14. I wish the cancer would stop. The cells just keep coming back." Harry said, sighing. "I wish it would stop too, I think the cells are just getting stronger, considering I've been in treatment for so long and gotten no results." Louis said. "How about we change the conversation, no need to bring ourselves down." Harry said. "You're right. So do you have a girlfriend or someone you like in school?" Louis asked. "Nope, not in school anyway." Harry replied. "Then who do you like?" Louis asked. "You." Harry blurted, and his face turned red. Harry covered his face, and turned away from Louis. "Sorry.." he mumbled, not lifting his head. "Harry.. Harry? Please look at me." Louis said, leaning slightly towards Harry's bed, the IV restricting him. Harry lifted his head slightly, so his eyes met Louis. "Guess what?" Louis said. "What?" Harry asked, lifting his head completely from his hands. "I like you, too.. I mean we just met but you're really nice, and you're really good looking. And I like some boys.." Louis said, a small blush creeping over his own cheeks. Harry smiled at him, and said "Really?" Louis nodded his head, with a sheepish smile. They then talked about themselves, the basics first such as favorite colors and favorite foods, then got down to more personal things, like family stuff or stories. "Louis, later do you wanna go to the cafeteria with me? You know, if it's one of those days where the chemo doesn't make us puke." Harry said, looking into Louis's bright blue eyes. "I'd love to." Louis said with a laugh. "So, cafeteria date. Great location, eh?" Harry joked. The two boys laughed, and continued talking.
