Chapter Two - What Is Going On?

I was a bit annoyed this morning to find Nicole in my bed when I woke up, now I know you're probably thinking; 'Why are you annoyed that your girlfriend is in your bed?' 'Didn't you like, I don't know, have sex with her or at least make out with and cuddle her?'. Well truth be told; no, I didn't have sex with her. Never did, and never will in fact. Sure I started dating her when I was 16 because I was a bit impatient, but I only make out with her, I told her no sleepovers and no sex. I do not want her ever staying over the night if she comes over and I will never stay over the night at hers either, and my body belongs to my mate, I made that crystal clear to her. But she just doesn't understand nor get it through her head and needs a consistent reminder; she is not my mate, nor am I hers. We're both 18 and if we were mates our wolves would have said so and I would have noticed all the mate signs with her, but I have not. I think that my mate isn't 18 yet, but once they are, they will be mine and I'll happily dump miss needy and not very bright wise. 'Why did I even ask her out?' No clue.

I really got annoyed when I noticed she was wearing my favourite jacket that my best friend Tom brought me for my 18th last week, and walk right off with it after we had a tiff about me wanting to spend time Tom. For some reason it seemed like she hated him but never said or did anything as he was going to her Alpha soon so she didn't want to be kicked out of the pack and acted nice around him to stay in his good books. I think he also didn't really like her much either, but as he wasn't Alpha yet he couldn't do anything, plush she hasn't said or done anything to him or his family yet. Every time I want to see Tom, Nicole said I had to tell her when and where and every detail, plus I had to ask for her permission which was nuts. I am soon to be Beta and he is not just my best friend but also soon to be Alpha, I need to be able to see or talk to him when he needs me, not wait until I'm told it's ok to by some crazy shewolf claiming to be my mate when she is not.

After Tom and I greeted each other, I noticed when I called him bro he seemed a bit off for a few seconds before shaking it off then acting completely normal again, and to be honest, for some weird reason calling him bro felt wrong to me now, especially to my wolf Jasper. He just growled in my head at that word like he always growls at Nicole but not aggressively like he did towards her, another reason why I knew she wasn't my mate; Jasper hated her and didn't feel the mate pull towards her wolf, he actually hated her wolf too which says a lot. We went to our hang out place and just hung out for a few hours like we always do, Tom never dated anyone. He was saving all of his firsts for his mate, our Luna who is the the Alpha's mate. It was normally a shewolf, but there has been cases where Alphas have had male mates, either other Alphas, Betas or males under the Alpha role. He and I as well as our families and most of the pack weren't homophobic, we had no problems with bisexuals, lesbians, gays, etc, or even transgender werewolves. But we were both straight, as far as we both knew anyways.

"Hey Tom, can I ask you a question?" I was actually a bit nervous to ask this as Jasper was very restless in my head. "Yeah sure, what's up?" I look him in the eyes and carefully think of the words I wanted to let out. "I um, I'm thinking of dumping Nicole. I mean, I'm sure I'll find my mate soon, plus I'm getting tired of her behavior. Do you think it's a smart move to do now or after we our Alpha and Beta roles?" Why was I looking into his eyes, I was not sure, but I just wanted to look into them and not look away, what on earth is going on with me? "Um, I think now would be better honestly. I mean once Beta you will have a lot going on your plate and will be moving into the pack house on the second floor for the Beta".

Jake: 'Something about living with Tom is making my heart race... Actually, my heart is racing just being around him, what's going on...?'

Jasper: 'I think I may know... But we both need to wait two days to see if my thoughts and suspicions are correct. And if they are... Just, don't fight it or hate him or anything ok? He is your about to be your Alpha after all, and he's your best friend'

Jake: 'Alright, I trust you.. But I'm really clueless right now'

(Tom's Point Of View)

After we agreed that Jake would dump Nicole before he becomes Beta rather after due to it would be less stressful for him we decided to grab some lunch at our favourite dinner. While ordered and waited for our meals we spoke about what we would first do as Alpha and Beta, then we discussed my birthday plans until our food arrived. While eating I started to notice that my wolf Toby was getting a bit restless which wasn't normal for him, I also noticed my heart rate when I was around Tom today as well which wasn't normal either, and I kept wanting to be close to him 24/7, not sure why. After we ate when went for a run in our wolf forms, it was great. By time we got back to the pack area it was dark, we made our way to Jake's place and got inside, only to be greeted by a very angry,  jealous, self-centered Nicole, who was still wearing Jake's favourite jacket as if it was now hers.

"And just where have you been Jake?! Do you have any idea on how late it is?!" Nicole had her arms crossed and the most ugly of angry faces I have ever seen on her yet, I had to kept my laughter in. "Oh my god! Would you just f***ing chill out?! You are NOT my keeper! You do NOT get to tell me what to do nor how to live MY life! Also how the hell did you even get in here?! I never gave you a key or anything!" I could tell that Nicole had really done it now, and I wouldn't be surprised if he dumped her right this second either, which is exactly what happened and she was NOT expecting it at all, nor happy about one bit. Before she got a word in to explain how she broke in Jake did the deed; "Ok, you know what? This was going to be done soon anyways so might as well be done now. I am SO sick and tired of you and your behavior. I Jake Lee Robison dump you Nicole Chloe Nickstar forever!" She gasps in both shock and horror before she yelled, wait no, screamed her lungs out is more appropriate.

"WHAT?! YOU CAN'T DUMP ME! I AM YOUR MATE! YOU NEED ME, JUST LIKE I NEED YOU!" Last I checked she wasn't his mate? "NO YOU ARE NOT! WAKE UP AND JUST SEE THAT OK?! WE'RE DONE, THROUGH, OVER! NOW TAKE MY JACKET OFF AND GET THE F***ING HELL OUT OF MY HOUSE!" Nicole growled while stomping her foot before she took the jacket off, throwing it to the floor then running off and Jake locking the door behind her. I wasn't sure why, but it angered me and Toby to hear her say that Jake and Jasper was hers, they clearly weren't. But at the same time we were also sad to think of them with their mate for some reason. After I helped Jake calm down I mindlinked my parents letting them know I was with Jake at his place and staying the night, they were fine with that. We stayed up for a bit watching movies and had dinner then took our turns having showers and getting ready for bed, I took the guest bedroom and fell right to sleep once my head hit the pillow.
