Connor woke up with a smile on his face. It was extremely weird seeing as it was still only 9:30. Despite the early time, he still stuck to his morning schedule and grabbed his phone from the nightstand. Seeing his lock screen made him smile again. It was a photo of Troye he had taken the night before when they had been walking. Looking at the picture made Connor remember the night even more. How could he forget it anyway?
When he had walked into Caspar Lee’s house with Kian, they had been attacked with questions, mainly from one of the schools biggest gossips- Tyler Oakley.
“A little birdy told me that you’ve been hanging out with the new kid.” He exclaimed with a gleam in his eyes. Connor sighed as he sat next to the 18 year old.
“So what if we have?”
That earned a scoff from Kian, “What do you mean we? I only met him this afternoon. You’re the one that knows him.”
“So I’ve talked to him a couple of times. That doesn’t mean I know him! Literally all I know about him is his name, age, address and that he likes to sing and act.” Connor said, exasperated. And that he has a cute accent and cute face, he added in his head. Except it didn’t stay in his head. All 14 of the other teenagers in the house, excluding Caspar, Joe and the Harries twins who were all somewhere else, either giggled, ‘ohhe’ed or ‘aww’ed. Connor’s cheeks turned red, so Marcus lent over and pinched them slightly, a big grin on his face.
“Our little Connor has a crush!” Zoe exclaimed, although her and Louise’s talks with Trevor had made them slightly suspicious.
“He’s growing up so fast!” Joey said as he hugged Connor tightly.
“I don’t have a crush!” Connor shouted, although his bright red cheeks said otherwise, “Anyway, even if I did, I would never even have the chance to talk to him or anything.”
The plan to get Troye to go on an un-date with Connor was hatched soon afterwards.
Connor sighed. Of course he had expected Tyler to ask about Troye, and for all his friends to act like it was a big deal, but he was not expecting them to get him to ask Troye on an un-date. It wasn’t that he wasn’t thankful for it- the one hour with Troye had been perfect. The only downside was, coincidentally, Troye. He probably only thought Connor was being nice. He probably didn’t even like Connor. It was depressing.
“Tyler and Zoe are here. They want to know how your date went.” Connor’s little brother Brandon announced, sticking his head around the door.
“It wasn’t a date!” Connor half-shouted and threw a teddy bear at Brandon but started to shuffle out of the bed anyway.
“Send them up.” He grumbled, pulling on a pair of discarded jeans and a black top that said ‘Coffee’. The top was just over his tummy when the door opened and Tyler, Zoe and Louise(who had arrived a moment before) burst into the room.
“So,” Tyler dragged out the ‘o’, “How’d the date go?”
Connor sighed. “It wasn’t a date!” His friends looked at each other and laughed until they saw Connor was serious.
“So how did the un-date go?” Zoe persisted.
“The un-date,” emphasis on ‘un-date’, “was okay.”
This time it was Tyler’s turn to sigh as he sat down (after realising he was the only one standing.)
“What was the outcome? Did you have fun? Did you realise you hate him? Did you ask him on a real date?” Connor sighed at the questions.
“I got his number.” He offered. The other three squealed loudly, “But can we please stop talking about me? Zoe, how are you and Alfie doing? How’s the parents?”
“So you like Troye? Like, like-like him?” Louise smirked. Connor nodded his head, finally giving in. The rest of the attendees at Caspar’s the night before all received a message informing them of the plans outcome.
Troye bit his lip and looked down at his phone again. He was supposed to meet Ben and Alexis outside Hollister at 1- in 5 minutes. He was still outside the mall. Taking in a deep breathe, he stepped inside, instantly met with the sound of a few thousand people rushing around. Mechanical like steps took Troye to the giant map near the entrance. His eyes scanned the board until he found were Hollister was located. He quickly moved towards the escalators and stepped on. Luckily, Hollister was on the first floor so Troye didn’t have to go through a lot of crowds. He arrived at Hollister just as the clock struck 1.
“Hey Ben.” He greeted his friend, “Where’s Alexis?”
“I don’t know. She should be here soon though.”
They only had to wait about 5 minutes for her and she even brought them apologisery coffee. Then they spent the afternoon being teenagers A.K.A messing around in countless stores, and Ben and Alexis showing Troye the best places to go for anything. The highlight of the day was definitely when they had walked past Forever 21 and seen Connor, Tyler, Zoe and Louise holding dresses up to themselves and making stupid but funny faces. Troye, Ben and Alexis were almost in tears- a side effect from the laughing fit they had only a few moments before.
Troye collapsed onto his bed that evening, exhausted from laughing and socialising wih his friends, and being forced to participate in ‘family’. Evidentially bored, he picked up his phone- who to twxt? Making a seemingly unconscious decision, he tapped on Connor’s contact and started typing a message. He re-started at least twice.
Troye Boy: Well well well Mr Connie frannie. Didn’t know you like trying on dresses
On the other side of town, Connor stopped breathing for a second. He didn’t think anyone had seen him. Heart pounding in his chest, he shakily typed a reply.
Connie Frannie: What! I have no idea what youre talking about
Troye Boy: I saw you in forever 21 holding that dress up to yourself
Troye Boy: You looked cute
Troye Boy: I mean good. If you wore a dress you wouldn’t look bad
Connor sat in silence. He was shocked, but not in the bad way. Troye had called him cute. And said he’d look good in a dress- okay, it wasn’t his dream compliment but still. He hadn’t realised he had just been sitting on his bed motionless for five minutes until his phone buzzed again.
Troye Boy: I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to offend you. See you around
Connor felt his breath catch in his throat. Connor you idiot, why didn’t you reply to him? Snuggeling under his duvet, he picked up his phone from beside him. The lock screen made a tear find its way down his cheek. Connor, you are a grade A dick, he told himself before sending one last text before he went to sleep.
Zoe, I made a mistake. Help me
So this was Chapter 4. It was shorter than usual but I think it was okay.
Just to make things clear, when Troye and Connor were texting their names in bold is their names in each others phones. Also, the last line is Connors text to Zoe.
Since I’m fitting my writing around school again, there isn’t a 100% guarantee that Chapter 5 will be uploaded before next Monday.
