"Yeah well...I have to earn some money somehow am I right?" She said awkwardly behind the counter. He smiled and pulled out his credit card. She took the card with a blush adorning her face.

"So um....what animal are you here for?" She said as she noticed the leash on the counter. He stared down at the item for a second before his thoughts jumped forward.

"Well, that old man you met on the way to my work owns a dog. He lost the other leash he had for her so now i have to buy a new one for him."

She smiled as she printed the receipt for him. "What kind of dog is it? If....you don't mind me asking."

He grabbed the receipt and the leash "a beagle. Her name Mary-Jane."

"That's a cute yet different name." Arianna smiled at him. However his face fell to a sad one.

"Yeah it was my grandmother's name. She loved beagles so he bought in memory of her as well as named it after her."

Arianna's face fell. "Oh sorry for intruding. It must have brought up sad memories huh?" She said as she held her head low in shame for making the boy remember the death of his grandmother. Her eyes widened as she felt a hand ruffle her hair and looked up at him. He smiled as a image of something along with some emotion she couldn't make out passed before his eyes.

"Its cool. Shes been gone for about 5 years ago now. My gramps is still fighting string. After serving in the Military i don't think a simple death of someone phases him anymore. After all it was because of death that he even met my grandmother in the first place."

"What do you mean? There's no way something that tragic can bring people together in happiness. Sure in sadness to mourn together but not in a lovely way."

The boy before her nodded. "I said the same thing but it's true. He and his best friend were both shot at one point in the battlefield so they were dispatched to the doctors in America due to the limited space in the Vietnamese hospital. Him and his friend were both placed in the same room and when his friend died that day in the room, she noticed my grandmother ever since. She helped him cope with the pain of his friend's death along with his injuries for about 6 months and then was soon dispatched back once he fully recovered. When he got back from the war, she waited for him and they went from there."

Arianna sniffled which caused Luke to jump "Why are you crying! They ended happily yeah? So why need to shed tears about it?" He awkwardly stated as he tried to calm down the about to cry girl behind the counter. She looked up only to find Luke blushing at her demeanor.

"I'm surprised."

"Why?" Arianna said through her sniffles. Blowing her nose on some napkins laying on the counter by the cash register.

"Well because most girls look ugly when their crying, my ex included. You look kinda cute too me." This caused Arianna blush a deep red and stop her crying instantly. She then threw the snotty napkin at him which caused him to respond by saying "Ew" and dodging the rag.

"What the hell was that for?! I complimented you didn't I?! You should feel honored I didn't say your were hideous or some other shit like that!"

"I am! But to say it at that moment was embarrassing!" She shouted with a sort of angry look on her face. He chuckled at her trying to be tough attitude and started heading towards the door. "Well, I'll see you later Ms.cant-take-a-compliment."

Arianna stuck her tongue out and he left through the glass door with a ding of the bell. Arianna turned to see her co-worker smirking at her as she slowly walked up to the counter. "Well look at Ms.Compliment herself. I think you got him in the bag."

"What?! No, Josie I could never. I mean hes just some random-"

"Well judging from your conversation from before, I doubt hes just some character you happen to just meet. I think....you like him."

"Coming from the one with so many men she cant count." Arianna sighed as the girl besides her blushed and turned away.

"Look, Damian was good and me and him agreed to just be friends....with benefits. However we are talking about you here, not my love life. Heck I could care if Joey and Robert fight for me. They only wanted my body. But I would prefer if Damian asked me though. I mean he is way better in bed than those two could ever be. Especially in the-"

Arianna held up a hand "TMI Josie. So what if I like him anyway. He wont ever come back for me. I might as well just tell Wyatt his answer before I end up in a less of a situation than you." The girl though in question perked up at the sound of another boy's name.

"Lucky! Wyatt likes you! Hes got the hottest eyes I've seen in years. Those things are like sapphires or just the ocean in general. I could stare at them all day. And for him to ask you out! Forget what I said before about whatever his name is, go for Wyatt. I ship Ariatt all day everyday." She blushed as thoughts of the two of them flashed before her eyes.

Arianna sighed and counted the money in the register. The thought of Wyatt brought forth to the front of her eyes. His awkward smile as he asked about tests made the corners of her mouth hike up a bit before remembering the situation at hand.

"He asked me to that dance thing at school. I mean I want to go sure but...I don't know if it should be with him. I love him as a friend and can never really see us together. We are complete opposites Josie. Yet I dont want to hurt his feelings about this."

The girl being asked rested her head on her hand that perched itself on the counter besides the register. She let out a sigh as she tried to come up with a solution to her friend's problem "Well I don't know what to tell you Ari. I would just go out with him as friend or invite a group of friends along so its not just the two of you."

"I guess..."

"Just see Ari. There is no harm done in just going with him and hanging out. He's hot and he likes you. Thats enough right? What could be the worst thing that could happen? You don't drink and neither does he. Plus he likes you so there goes the idea of him hurting you or trying to use you."

Arianna thought on the idea. It seemed plausible. He was a nice guy. She didn't drink like her friend said so no people taking advantage of her and neither did he. However her mind just wondered back to the thought of going on a date with him. It just didn't feel...right. It felt wrong to use one's opinions. She should use someone like that. No, not like John did to her. She promised herself she would never follow down that road again.

She opened her mouth to speak but the co-worker beat her to it. "Well, we better get back to work. Those hamsters aren't going to feed themselves right? We can talk about this on our break. For now lets get back to work before the boss gets us and yells at me of all people." she snarled at the end of her comment. Arianna laughed and nodded.

"Sure." Her mind now focusing on the cute hamsters just down the aisle.
