"Ma'am! Um...do you need a umbrella at all? Your soaked." A man walked up to her. His scruffy grey stubble beard evident and a abundant amount of dark silver hair on his head.

The said female in question turned and faced the man with a polite smile. "Im sorry sir. I may but i surely dont want to be a inconvenience to you."

The man chuckled. "Oh well its quiet fine dear. And surely dont worry about me being pedophile either if thats the case. Used to be a former cop in my younger years and have two children and one grandchild. All happy to see me too when they can!" He laughed as he walked over to the wet girl.

"My name is Mark Edger by the way." The man smiled and pulled out his ID. True to his word, the name was printed along with a picture of himself 5 years ago. She looked at it and then laughed at how goofy the smile he sported in the photo was.

"Well then Mr. Edger, its a pleasure meeting you. I hope its not a bother with me around?"

The man smiled and ruffled the girl's wet hair. "Not at all. You see, I like meeting new people of all ages and sizes..as long as their nice but anyone who is willing to talk to a stranger either has to be crazy or just really nice. I take it your the second option I presume."

The girl shook her head. "I dont know exactly either. For all I know you chould have stolen that ID from some ramdom old man on the street and then saw me as an easy target. Either way Mr. Edger, its a pleasure meeting you."

"Same be here. May I ask where you are heading?"

"No where in particular. Just where ever this umbrella leads me."

The man smiled as thoughts of his past surfaced "This reminds me of those times in the war where I said the same gosh darn thing. The wind leads to many places child but just know it will always lead you in a place you can always adjust to."

Arianna smiled "Now, may I ask where YOU are going?"

The old man looked up in surprise "Oh yes! I was simply on my way to a café my grandson works at. The coffee they make there is so devine I cant help but return to it like feathers sticking to tar. Would you like to come along?"

Arianna blushed "How old are we talking about here?"

Mr. Edger nudged the girl "Well, I know he will surely love you once he lays eyes on you my dear. I remember the day he got a girlfriend and oh boy...he was so protective of her like a father to his daughter. Made me feel sorta sorry for her but knew she was in the right hands...until she left."

Arianna's eyes widened at the flashback of memories. Those of John, the car, the crash and the realization of love and life. Her eyes became glassy as the memories took control of her mind. There was a swirling darkness that began to encompass her brain. It was untill Mr. edger snapped his fingers a few times before she jolted from the thoughts.

"You ok there pretty lady? You looked like some inner voodoo magic was taking over ya?"

She laughed at his southern slang and shook her head no. The man exaimined her before changing it of one of happiness and continoued to walk towards the shop.

The two had talked about little things. It was a nice feeling to learn about someone who had been through such intangible pain like her. He watched those that he only knew for a short while fall before his very eyes. She watched a man she loved with all her life be crushed and then leave her due to nature wanting a go at him next.

The man was like that of a boat. He floated through even the most tough of conditions. He made sure to arrive somewhere and to her that was most honorable about the man.

The will to continue through what torture life threw at him.

After what seemed like years, mainly due to the length of the man's story, they arrive at the cafe not too far from a major super market and small shops. It was in between these building lied a tiny store with the words "Café" printed in cursive writing at the top.

It wasn't anything fancy but it wasn't the Starbucks everyone craved. It was a simple bakery that also sold coffee.

The brick front made the building seem just as regular building. That was until the old man opened the door to the establishment.

Her eyes feasted on the male behind the counter her held his face in his hand. The tattoos that glared at her were surprisingly....attractive. His brown curly hair sat well on his medium fair skin.

"Hello may I....." He trailed as he gave a bright smile to the man that entered. He ran to the old man and gave him a huge bear hug that she supremely craved.

Wait...craved?

She shook her head at the thoughts. This man she just met. He was nothing but a stranger and yet she wanted a hug from him of all things! Her love life and morals must have been taking a tole on her maybe.

The hearty laugh of the old man broke her inner turmoil.

"Luke! It's so glad to see my grandson after such a long time~!"

"Yeah yeah yeah...you know where I am. Im always here. This used to be grandma's shop and I be damned if some freaks got it. Plus this place hold a place in me for it."

The said man gave a sad smile while staring at the boy. "She would be proud of you Luke. I just had hoped that Lily wouldnt have-"

"Shut up about Lily. You know what she did. She cheated and I dumped her. I cannot forgive someone who would do that and then lie to my ass about the baby being mine. I haven't fucking had sex yet and she somehow ends up pregnant! That whore can live that bastard of a child for all I care.."

"You were cheated on to?" A voice interupted the pair. Both men turned to see the soaked girl looking down. Her hair hiding her face from them both. However they could guess it was of the same face she held.

"Yeah...she cheated on me with this guy she used to fuck. Glad I dumped her sorry ass though. Id be damned if I believed her pathetic excuse and then raise a child that I never know the father of."

Arianna stared at the boy. "How do you know for sure it isnt yours? You could have been drunk-"

"I dont drink. My mother got into a car crash with a man drinking. Seeing that horror will change people and it has to me for the better of this sick and twisted country. The fact that morons will believe they can drive when they know they cant even stand up truly makes me wonder of how stupid you have to be."

Arianna held a gaze of amazement. This man held himself in some way. He glared at life in its harsh realities as of how she did. They viewed it twisted and messed up. Torn to pieces that no superhero could ever save.

And somehow...she felt attached to him.

"Your name is Luke right?"

He turned to face the smaller female. "Maybe it is. Either way, I'm glad to view a person of the same views as of myself."

The girl smiled and nodded. "My name is Arianna. Glad to have met you. Hope we see each other again."

And with that Arianna stepped out of the building due to her phone ringing. A few seconds later, she was running down the sidewalk in a unknown destination. The old man yelled after her about the coffee but the glass door to the building was closed, unable to hear his pleads.

"So what are you planning now? You brought her here for a reason and then she leaves."

The old man smiled at the boy. "She will come back Luke. They always do just like your grandmother."
