A bump in the night

Chapter 1

Luz Pov

!CRASH!

I woke up to a crashing sound downstairs i sat up in my bed looking around in the darkness before reaching for my notepad sketching a light glyph from memory and holding it front of me. King isn't at the foot of the bed 'Maybe he knocked something over getting a late night snack' i thought to myself with a chuckle before getting out of bed and peeking out the door holding the light still "King is that you?" Silence "Eda are you up?" i asked looking down the hall and seeing her door open. I moved toward the stairs and started walking down them cringing at the sound of boards creaking in the silence of the night.

About halfway down the stairs i stopped my breath hitching as i quickly dimmed the ball of light i could see the front door open with Hooty hanging limply out of it on the ground. I quickly moved back up the stairs as quietly as i could going back into my room grabbing my satchel bag pulling out some glyphs i had ready. I had three ice glyphs, three plant glyphs, and two fire and light glyphs, I pulled out an ice glyph and moved down stairs once again scanning the living room seeing no one and seeing nothing in the kitchen either, i walked over to Hooty hearing him breathing slowly but no wounds as i could see, i turned my attention to a figure on the ground in the front of the house... Silver hair, red dress... "Eda!" I yelled.

I dropped to my knees next to her looking her over and seeing no major wounds except for a few cuts and scrapes, i shook her trying to wake her "Eda wake up!" She stirred awake blinking a bunch and shaking her head "What happened?" she groaned, holding her head. I shook my head "I'm not sure, Hooty is knocked out and I don't know where King is. What happened to you?" She rubbed her eyes a little "I don't know i remember checking out a sound and the— LOOK OUT!" she yelled pushing me to the side as a club hit the ground creating a dust cloud Eda tried to stand but fell back to the ground as her arms and legs were tied with some magic I looked up and saw an emperor coven guard wielding a club.

I slapped an ice glyph on the ground creating a tower launching the guard into the air, he hits the ground with a 'thud' as he groans in pain. I looked toward another sound seeing a large group of guards stepping out of the woods all with their weapons drawn, Eda is still struggling to free herself but stops when a voice starts talking "Please don't make this harder than it has to be Edalyn." Lilith walks out of the woods flanked by two Emperor coven guards, I moved Infront of Eda staring at Lilith with a glyph ready in my hand. "Ah, the human. Surrender and I'll let you go home unharmed." I laughed "Yeah... no, i won't be doing that." I threw down a ice barrier and tried to pull another glyph out but the barrier exploded knocking me down as a shard of ice cut my cheek with a small drop of blood.

The Emperor Guard scout lowered his hand as a magic spell circle disappeared. Lilith stepped forward once more "Stop this human! Your outnumbered and outmatched, i don't want a child's death on my hands!" I stood up wiping my cheek wincing slightly at the wound "Outnumbered maybe... but i think I'm evenly matched!" I said as I launched a barrage of fire spells at the guards one missed, another got deflected, but the third hit it's mark as he tried to shield himself. Lilith looked at the unconscious guard "Fine have it your way human! Try not to kill her please." she said to her guards before moving towards Eda.

I tried to move to block her but a sword hitting the ground stopped me as i jumped back. I threw an ice spell at the guard freezing him in place as i turned as used a plant glyph tripping another guard. I kept dodging and knocking out one or two but they kept coming!

I reached into my bag once more and pulled out... Nothing!? I looked again and saw i was out of glyphs "Crap..." i muttered as i saw two guards approaching me. "What? Out of your 'Magic' you half-a-witch?!" one guard said as he got closer and as the other stayed back. "I got one more magic trick!" I yelled as i ran at him "Magic Punch!!" I shouted as my foot connected with his chest knocking him to the ground and making him wheeze. "Hahaha! It's magic cause it's a kick!" i cackled at him before something hit me in the head making my vision blur and blacken as i hit the ground...

I woke up being dragged and my arms tied i looked up and saw Lilith walking next to the guard dragging me "W-why are you doing this?" i managed to say with my head throbbing in pain. Lilith looked down at me "To cure my sister from her curse." she said plainly and turned away "The emperor is just using you... he'll get eda and he can just get rid of you after you did your job." she stopped and looked at me once more "H-he wouldn't he'll cure her and we can join his coven together." she said it seemed more to herself than anyone else. My vision began to get blurry and black spots started to appear "He's using you." i barely whispered out before blackness.

I woke again with my arms still tied to my sides in the back of a prison cart I looked around and saw Eda with her head down on another seat in the cart "Eda?" i whispered out. Her head shot up looking at me "Oh my Titan! Luz your okay." she said as she tried to scoot closer "They threw you in here knocked out. We've been on the road for about 25 minutes." i nodded as i looked out the bars on the cart door wondering about how we'll get out of this but then i remembered. "Where's King?" i asked Eda "I don't know kid, he must've gotten away. I don't know how they got Hooty knocked out either." Me and Eda sat in silence as the cart kept moving but suddenly stopped making me fall over. As i sat up i heard the door unlocking, I looked at the guard at the door as he grabbed my arm pulling me out of the cart "Eda!" I yelled as the door was slammed shut. "Kid! L-luz!" i heard her shout from inside.

I looked around the outside of the cart and saw we were on the outskirts of bonesburrow and Warden Wrath was standing talking to Lilith "I captured her and her human your not taking them!" Wrath shook his head "Not both of them Miss Lilith just the human." he said pointing at me Lilith looked at me then at Warden Wrath "Fine just don't hurt her she's but only a child." she motioned for the guard holding my arm and he pulled me to a conformatorium prison cart shoving me inside then locking the door. I heard some more talking then the cart lurched forward as it went towards the conformatorium. I sat there in the cart... thinking about everything that happened in the last hour.

Everything passed around me like a blur, how much time passed? Hours? Days? Weeks? I wasn't sure. I was pulled out of my daze as Warden Wrath knocked on the bars of my cell holding a paper with the Emperor's Sigil on it and he rolled it out "'Effective immediately Luz the human should be exiled off of the mainland of the boiling isles to spend the rest of her time on an uninhabited island, may the Titan give her mercy. Signed, The Emperor's Confidant and Right hand, Kikimora.' Looks like we're going on a trip human." Warden Wrath opened the cell grabbing me with his weird tentacle arms as i stayed silent.

I went back and forth from a dazed state and consciousness. I saw a boat and the boiling ocean around us then a island in the distance before i was dumped onto the sand as the small rowboat along with the guards departed.

I sat on my knees as i took in my surroundings looking at the sea, the sand, the forest and trees behind me... Then i started to cry, sobbing loudly not caring who or what heard me, my mind was racing between so many thoughts Eda, King, Hooty, Willow, Gus, Amity, Mom... I stayed there for who knows how long, i eventually ran out of tears and sniffled once more before trying to untie the ropes still on my hands. The ropes finally gave away and i pulled my hands free i tried to stand but my hand hit something, i looked and i saw my bag i had before i was captured i looked in the bag and saw some canned food and some water bottles with a note 'You don't know me but you were just a kid. I don't care what you did just try to survive out there. - Steve' i smiled slightly at the note before looking at the forest "Okay Luz you can do this you can survive out here, Everyone is waiting for you back home Gus, Willow, Amity... and your a bad boy! You can do this!" i said to myself as i pulled the bag over my shoulder and started walking into the forest.
