They break you down,
Little by little.
Make you feel like you aren't enough,
Like you will never be enough.
For them,
for you,
for anyone.
Stop with the expectations.
All you do with them
Is bring people down.
The expectations,
They never ever make people feel good.
Even when they live up to them.
Because when they live up to them
And people tell them how proud they are.
That doesn't always make them feel proud.
Maybe they seem proud
But most end up thinking,
Am I only enough for them when I do what they want?
Am I not enough on my own?
So stop with the expectations.
Stop breaking people down.
You say its because you want them to do better in life then you.
If you truly want that.
That let them make some decisions themselves.
Tell them you're proud,
Even when they do bad.
Stop with the expectations.
And just be proud.
Bring people up, not down.
Just stop with the expectations.
