Chapter 6

Chopsticks

How the hell are you supposed to use these?

Liltotto glared at the utensils in her right hand. Her hand is shaking. Whether if it's her swelling anger or her feeble effort to hold the pointy sticks, she don't know.

She waited patiently without even a hint of suspicion for the meal. Then you give her a trial before she can eat?! WTF?!

She glanced at the rest of the food on the tray and her eyes landed on a bowl of soup. She sighed. Thankfully, there's a spoon together with the soup so she guess she can use that.

The blonde haired girl set the chopsticks down and reached for the bowl. Why did she even attempt to use those things when she know she don't know how to use them? It's really stupid of her. Shinigami didn't also think it thoroughly and assume that they have the skills to maneuver chopsticks.

Anyways, she's hungry. She scooped a spoonful of the soup and carefully raised it to her lips. It was still hot, that steam came out of it even with such small amount. She softly blow on it as the steam flow the opposite direction from her mouth. Judging it's heat won't hurt her tongue no more she gave a taste of soup she still suspect could be tampered with poison.

Not that tasty but she wasn't really expecting much from portions that would help her recover. Too bad. If this is her last meal she's a little disappointed. But fuck all that food critiquing, she want to fill her stomach in order to go to Hueco Mundo.

She ate the bread alongside the soup. Before long, her hunger lead the bowl to become half empty. Her eyes strayed to the chopsticks neatly placed on its holder. Which reminds her, what about Gigi?

The Sternritter G looked up to the bed opposite hers and she saw an exact copy of her situation.

"You don't know how to use them too, huh?"

Only then the other sternritter raised their head, the spoon still in mouth. "Yeah" The eggs on Gigi's plate are almost gone though. The dark haired quincy noticed Liltotto's full tray. "I honestly thought you know."

Liltotto huffed. "Ashamedly, I don't."

"If you didn't tell me that I would've thought you don't have an appetite."

"Don't be silly." Liltotto used her spoon to cut the eggs to fit in her spoon and she ate it. "We're escaping to a place where there's no food. We should stock up energy while we're here." and she took another bite. "Even if it doesn't taste that good." she mumbled the last part.

"Everybody who know you would assume you are able to eat in different methods." Liltotto snorted at that statement and continued eating. Giselle paused, watching the other Sternritter resume eating and soon followed her example. But this time reaching for one of the dishes that hasn't been touched yet. "The fish is good."

Liltotto has eyes so wide and her mouth agape. "You really managed to eat fish with that spoon?" Her lips quivered and a short sound escape her lips. Before Giselle knew it, the young girl started laughing.

The sternritter G laughed so much to the point that tears are coming out of her eyes. Her thin arms raised to wipe the droplets with her equally thin fingers as her body shake with laughter. Such a big smile on the blonde's face.

"Maybe now you will be hailed as the all eater."

"Just because of this?!"

The two converse while they eat alas, the food run out before they knew it. More on Liltotto's part, such small amount of food could barely satisfy her stomach. They were silent especially when the shinigami came to get the dishes.
