(Y/N), Washington Lodge Grounds: 4:19

(Y/N) and Chris had joined the stranger in returning to the shed in order to save Josh from the Wendigos. The man had his flamethrower ready and Chris held his shotgun, walking close beside his friend.

When they had reached the shed, they were in despair to find the stool broken and the Washington son gone. The adult had warned them and now, he was trying to safely get them back to the lodge.

''Don't move.'' He mumbles.

(Y/N) sucks in a breath. She was a couple of feet away from the two people who had weapons and the stranger indicates with his hand for them to run.

''Go, now, now!'' He yells.

The teenager follows after the pair, faltering behind when a monster, sharp teeth bared, jumps out and startles her. She stumbles back, tripping over a log and as she falls to the snow, her top rises up to show her midriff.

(Y/N) is paralytic with fear, her voice failing her as she lies there in stunned silence. The Wendigo moves fast, its sharpened nails scratching deep across the exposed skin. She lets out a scream, scrambling to get away.

Fire suddenly sprouts around the creature and it falls. (Y/N) breathes heavily, her mouth agape at the wound when Chris rushes by her. His eyes widen at her and he hauls her to her feet, making her yell out in pain.

''Holy shit, Riley.'' He breathes.

''Go, now!'' The man orders when suddenly a Wendigo lunges, slicing his head clean off his body. (Y/N) screams at the sight; Chris in complete shock.

''Shit, Chris!'' She motions to the one in the bush and he fires.

''You have to go!'' He yells and (Y/N) turns, gritting her teeth and taking off in a run. Sweat was beading at her forehead and she can hear her friend firing off shots.

Dropping down the ledge, she keeps herself silent, the tears falling fast and she places a hand to her cuts. It's instantly soaked in blood and she pulls her top down over it when Chris joins her. He doesn't say anything, instead guiding her to the door.

Ashley is quick to open it up, closing it in an instant. ''Oh my god, what happened?'' She exclaims and (Y/N) moves away from the pair, her vision blurry.

Hearing footsteps coming to the hallway, she zips up her jacket when Mike is suddenly in front of her, steadying her. ''Hey, Riley, you okay?'' He questions and she forces a smile, glancing at Chris, who goes to inform them of her injuries.

''I'm okay, but the guy... he didn't make it.'' (Y/N) breathes and Chris raises an eyebrow, not saying anything.

2 hours until dawn

(Y/N) had decided to accompany Mike on his venture back to the sanatorium. Nobody apart from Chris knew the extent of her injuries and she had made sure to keep it covered.

They had made it all the way through, following their wolf friend and dodging the Wendigo's that were imprisoned.

Every jump over a swiping hand, or duck under a reaching one had taken its toll and Mike had started to notice. He had slowed his pace down, his shotgun still sweeping from side to side wearily as he takes a look at his partner.

''You're not looking so good.''

''You really know how to make a girl feel special, Munroe.'' (Y/N) grunts.

''I'm serious. What - '' His sentence stops short when an unchained Wendigo screeches behind them, forcing them to take off down the corridor.

(Y/N) shoves against the door, but to no avail and she turns back to see more approaching. Mike is quick to pull a barrel and kick it, allowing it to roll to the Wendigos gaining towards them. Once it comes to a stop between, he fires and it explodes.

The two continue their pursuit on, the wolf staying where he grew up and leaving them to find the exit.

At the door, (Y/N) fumbles with the locks, her panic rising at the appearing multitude of creatures. Mike takes aim at the flammable barrels just as the doors open, the wind rushing in stinging her eyes.

He shoots. The explosion ripples and the duo go flying from the impact. They roll downhill and Mike groans, but laughs. ''Fuck, we did it. We actually survived that shit.''

Getting no response, he hurriedly sits up, his eyes scanning the snow for her. (Y/N) had landed a distance away, heaped in the white of the snow and he scrambles to get to her. Kneeling next to her body, his fingers are outstretched, but he is hesitant.

''(Y/N).'' He whispers and gently grabs her arm. He rolls her on to her back, swallowing hard at the blood that had seeped through her layering of clothing. He gingerly unzips her jacket, pulling the top up to reveal just how bad it was.

The teenager's breaths were raspy, her eyes focusing and un-focusing on him. He pulls them back down, his hands painted by red,

"I'm sorry." She whispers and he shakes his head, willing himself not to cry. "I just - it was a couple of cuts, no big deal."

Mike can't help himself and he chuckles at her words, the tears staining his face. "Only you could say that."

"It doesn't hurt." (Y/N) reassures. Her bloodied hand grasps his and he brings it to his lips, kissing it repeatedly.

"I need a rest, Mike. A breather, okay? That's all. I'm - I'm so tired." Her voice was barely a whisper, her eyes fluttering to a near close.

Mike knew he couldn't do anything but be there for her. He looks up to the darkened sky, feeling the snow lightly caress his cheek and he compels himself to smile.

"That's okay. We can take as long as you need. What's the bet that Em -" Mike looks down, his breath catching in his throat.

(Y/N) was still. Her eyes glassy and her mouth slightly open. The hand holding his falls limp and he sits there, letting the grief consume him.

Leaning down, Mike places a soft kiss on her cold lips. He stays like that, his tears falling on her face until he jolts back up, his cries echoing in the darkness.

"I love you." He states, closing her eyes to make her look peaceful.

He knew he had to leave her and he hated it. He had to leave her alone, here, whilst he kept on surviving.

With a heavy heart, the teenager stands, taking one last look at her body before trudging off through the snow.

His chaos had succumbed to the evils of the world, denying him the chance of being part of it.

Of loving her.
