Remus watches as Sirius looks away from the window and walks back towards the castle and out of sight. What is his friend doing?

He sighs and walks back to the fire and sits on the floor in front of it, the orange glow dancing in his eyes and making his hair even more golden.

He doesn't know what he is doing. Just dreaming about his friend, staring into the flames.

Remus hears the portrait hole door open but doesn't turn around, sure it is a couple making out, on their way to privacy. He can't deal with that.

"Remus...?"

When he hears the familiar voice, however, he twists around and sees Sirius standing by the door, his hands in his pockets, his skin pale, almost blue and his lips cracked and chattering. Remus stands up quickly.

"Sirius! You're freezing!" He says and rushes over to him. "C'mon, come sit by the fire."

Sirius walks with him and sits down, shivering, seemingly too cold to speak.

"What on earth?" Remus exclaims and grabs a blanket and wraps it around his friend's shoulders. "What are you like?"

Sirius stares into the flames, rubbing his hands together, trying to warm them. "I didn't know where to go," he says, not looking at Remus, the flames reflecting in his eyes.

Remus sits on the floor next to him.

He's so beautiful, he thinks to himself as he reaches out and takes Sirius' hands in his. They are so small, he observes and rubs them.

Sirius catches his eyes and smiles softly. "That's warmer," he says quietly, "thank you."

"Of course," Remus says and adjusts the blanket around Sirius' shoulders, ensuring he's warm enough. His hand lingers above his shoulder, next to his face and the boys just sit and stare for a moment.

Simultaneously they are leaning toward one another. Remus suddenly feels like he can't breathe and their faces get closer and closer together.

He can feel Sirius' breath on his cheek now, surprisingly warm seeing what a cold body it had come from. He glances at Sirius' lips then his eyes flutter close as the gap gets smaller and shrinks to almost nothing.

A bang causes them to jump apart and Remus looks away quickly, blushing furiously. He can't bear to look at Sirius, what had just happened between them?

He looks over his shoulder and sees James kissing Lily passionately, her red hair sliding through his fingers. He averts his eyes quickly and looks down at his hands, feeling empty now they are not holding Sirius'.

He hears them make their way across the common room, knocking things over in their path and out the corner of his eye he sees James pick Lily up and carry her to their dormitory.

"Good job the heart cushion is in there," Remus says sarcastically, trying to diffuse the awkwardness.

He hears a chuckle and feels Sirius glance at him and he turns to face him.

"I-" they start at the same time then look away from each other.

"You go," Remus mutters.

Sirius nods and takes a breath, looking Remus directly in the eyes. "I didn't find a date today because I wanted someone special..." he pauses for a moment, his lips moving, trying to form a sentence. Remus waits for him to continue. "That someone is... you..."

Remus stares at him for a few seconds before his words sink in.

"I- you- er- you mean that-?" He stammers, taken aback.

Sirius nods worry clouding his face.

Remus smiles, relaxing and reaching out to take his hands again. "I've been dreaming about this for so long... you and I- finally..."

Sirius' face changes immediately, his face softening into a dazzling smile and he removes his still cold hands from Remus' grasp and cups his face instead, cooling his flushed cheeks. Sirius leans in again, faster this time and Remus feels his face being pulled forwards. He closes his eyes as their lips meet, fireworks exploding in his stomach.

Sirius' lips are slightly cold and rough but amazing and Remus wants more. He moves his hands to Sirius' face and uses the kiss to push him down onto his back and lean over him, scraping his fingers through his long black hair.

The boys' lips move against one another in a rhythm full of passion and longing. Remus feels Sirius' hands move to his waist and they find bare skin underneath his jumper. He gets goosebumps at the touch and shivers a little, pulling away for air.

Remus looks at Sirius, his mouth open and chest rising and falling, rubbing up against the other boys' as it moves. A smile plays over Sirius' lips which are now red and puffy.

"Whoa..." Sirius whispers, catching his breath.

Remus smiles down at him, "Happy Valentine's Day," he says and moves off him and onto the floor beside him.

"Wait- what're you doing?" Sirius asks slightly panicked.

Remus turns his face and looks at him, watching as he sits up and leans over him, their lips just centimetres apart.

"Is that all I'm getting? Months I've been waiting for that..." he leans down and kisses him gently. Remus savours the moment, his eyes slowly opening long after Sirius pulls away. He finds the other boy's eyes gazing at him, and Remus smiles widely.

"You're so beautiful," Remus says, reaching up and tucking his long hair behind his ear. "So beautiful," he repeats in a whisper.

Sirius smiles but shakes his head. "That's all you- you're the beautiful one," he murmurs as if caught in a daydream.

Remus blushes, unable to take a compliment. "That's not true-"

Sirius cuts him off by kissing him again.

"C'mon," Sirius says as he pulls away, "you're the best-looking person around- so hot..." he adds the last words in a whisper.

"B-but that's you!"

Sirius chuckles and shakes his head. "It's you, now stop arguing, we need to find somewhere that's not- y'know- here or where James is..."

Remus nods and Sirius pecks his nose, making him giggle again, then sits up and smiles down at Remus with that Sirius Black grin.

"I've got the perfect place," he says and stands up, holding a hand out for Remus to take. "C'mon you..."
