*•*•*

Lyra didn't dare look up at the Carrows as they 'taught' them in defense. Well, now it was just the dark arts they taught, but still. She didn't dare look up. Otherwise she would have to use the Cruciatious curse on an ickle firstie, and that was such a traumatizing thing...

"Malfoy!" One of the Carrows barked and Lyra looked up with a neutral expression.

"Yes Professor." Lyra asked as if she didn't know what they were going to do.

She was secretly pleading them not to make her do it.

"On that runty one." The Carrows pointed to a mousy looking girl that was quite twitchy and Lyra slipped her wand out and turned towards the small girl.

She raised her wand and watched as the others in the classroom backed away, making a sort of lane.

She cast her eyes aside for a second and she saw exactly what she needed.

Ginny.

She had a look in her eyes that showed Lyra that she didn't need to do this, but she had too. For Draco, he couldn't be left alone for Christmas.

So she looked forward with a stony look and raised her wand.

It's a child

It's for Draco

It's a child!

Draco

They don't deserve this

Your brother needs you

No he doesn't, he needs someone

You're all he has

He can deal, I cant be a child torturer

"Get on with it!" The Carrow hissed and Lyra nodded and took a deep breath. She knew what she needed to do.

"Crucio!"

The Carrow yelled out in pain as Lyra spun around and hit the Carrow right in the chest, throwing her back into the wall. The class gasped and the little girl looked relieved and ran to a chubby boy and hugged him tight. Lyra would have smiled at he sight if she didn't just possibly ruin her entire life.

"YOU BITCH!" The other Carrow said, harshly taking out his wand and Lyras eyes went wide. "I'll tell your father-and the dark lord! He'll have you for that."

"Oh? That's neat." Lyra said as a smirk edged itself onto her lips. "Never thought a Carrow had the balls to threaten a fellow death eater. Thought they just did as told and even so reluctantly...."

"Avada-"

There was a punch and a crack of a bone and Lyras eyes snapped to Neville Longbottoms.

"Oh we gotta run." Neville said rushing towards Lyra and grabbing her hand.

"Wait!" She realized if she was being bold, fuck it.

She made her way towards Ginny and cupped her cheeks with her hands and brought her into a sweet and gentle kiss. The others around them seemed utterly stunned as they made their way to leave.

"AGH GET BACK HERE! Pungus!" The first Carrow who fell was flinging curses and hexes at Lyra and Neville.

Lyra broke from Ginny and went to Neville who was at the door, she grabbed his hand and pulled him along the corridor.

And they ran.

Lyra from her past life, from her guilt of not doing anything sooner, from all that she knew.

Neville was running from his old cowardice, and he was running to his future.

The funny thing was, they weren't cowards anymore....
