Chapter 1 - New Girl

A/N: This is my first fanfic so I hope you enjoy it.

Adora woke up to the sound of her alarm, she quickly turned off the annoying device as she rolled out of her bed. 'Why did I have to wake up' she thought as she walked to the bathroom to get ready for school.

As Adora was walking down the stairs she felt a tap on her shoulder. When she turned around she was greeted with the emotionless expression of her adopted mother "good morning miss Weaver"

Shadow Bitch adopted Adora when she was 10 years old since then Weaver has told Adora that she has to be perfect and that she has to do whatever Weaver tells her. If Adora disobeys her mother she gets punished.

"Remember what we talked about Adora I would hate to have to punish you, so don't disappoint me again," Weaver said with venom in her voice." yes miss Weaver" after that interaction Adora left for her long walk to school.

When Adora arrives at Brightmoon High she is greeted by an energetic Glimmer and Bow, Adora's best friends. For some reason, Bow insisted on calling them The Best Friend Squad. After the trio pulled away from their group hug Glimmer started screaming in Adora's face " HAVE YOU HEARD THE NEWS" "calm down" Bow said as he put his hand on the energetic girl's shoulder. "What news?" Adora asked confused "there's a new student starting today." 'A new student, cool' Adora thought as the bell rang signaling that its time for the first class of the day.

Adora waved goodbye to her best friends and headed towards her first class English. when she got to class she took her seat at the back of the room. Adora smiled as she looked out the window to see birds flying. Adora always loved nature, one day Adora wanted to go camping with a girl she loves. Adora was pulled out of her daydream by the teacher walking into class "good morning everyone, today we have a new student joining us" the teacher looked at the new girl. "can you introduce yourself."

"Hey, I'm Catra" the new girl received a series of grunts and waves from the other students. "Do you want to tell us anything about yourself, like your hobbies" "nope" the new girl deadpanned "okay then, just take your seat next to Adora" Adora lifted her hand so the mysterious new girl could find her.

As the new girl made her way to her seat, Adora couldn't help but stare. She had luxurious long curly brown hair and the most unique mismatched eyes one a deep blue and the other a vibrant amber. She was wearing a pair of black ripped jeans with a pair of combat boots, she was also wearing a longsleeved band top accompanied with a red and black flannel shirt tied around her waist and a studded choker.

The mysterious new girl tossed her bag down on the floor next to her chair. She sat down and pulled her phone out "hey I'm Adora" Adora got no reply so she tried again. "Hey" "what!" the new girl whisper shouted, "your new so I thought that I should introduce myself, I'm Adora." Adora held her hand out for the new girl to shake, reluctantly she shook Adora's hand "Catra." "do you know anyone here," Adora asked curiously "no," Catra said simply. Something about Catra intrigued Adora, she wanted to get to know her, to be friends with her. "if you want I can show you around and introduce you to my friends" " look blondie I'm not going to be here long so there's no point trying to be my friend" Catra said softly with a hint of sadness.

For the remainder of the class, the two girls sat in uncomfortable silence.

It was now lunch and Adora was talking to Bow and Glimmer about the mysterious new girl. "Her name is Catra" "so what was she like," glimmer asked " umm I don't really know, we didn't really talk" "didn't you sit next to each other" bow interrupted "yes we did but she didn't want to talk" "ohh". RING RING RING the bell went off indicating that it was the end of lunch. "Adora we have maths" Glimmer stated "ok I have art so ill talk to you later," Bow said as he ran off to his class.

Twenty minutes after Adora's math class started Catra walked in. "why are you late" the teacher questioned, " I'm new and I couldn't find the classroom." "Okay, ill let you of this time but don't be late for my class again, go find a seat" Catra responded with a sarcastic salute and went to the back of the class and sat down putting her headphones in.

I was now the end of class " Adora, Catra can I talk to you before you leave." both Adora and Catra groaned as they walked over to the teacher. "Catra since your new here I would like Adora to make sure you're caught up with the work." Catra looked up and stared at Adora who had a smug smile filling up her face. " ugggghh do I have to" Catra said clearly annoyed "yes you do." "fine" Catra started to walk out of the class when Adora grabbed her arm. Adora noticed how Catra recoiled at the touch and let go. "so do you want to meet at the coffee shop so I can make sure you are caught up with work." Catra let a soft laugh Adora thought it was adorable but she was a bit confused "why are you laughing" "wait you were being serious" " yeah" "okay blondie give me your phone" "why" "ill give you my number so we can set up a time to meet" Adora handed Catra her phone and watched as Catra typed he number in. "here you go, I gotta go talk to you later princess" and with that Catra walked away.
