Chapter 5

Alethea's Pov
I was served at the further back of the vehicle I could tell they were all silent i can't stand this awkwardness we stopped at a hospital
"Okay guys.."Michael turned around"split.we need medical supplies cara and alethea..you guys stay here in the car and us 4 will go inside and get the meds" as soon as they left I felt my stomach turn when I felt arms around my waist
"Hey..how's the wound?"
"Uhm..good"i looked at the bit it hasn't been infected yet I can't still feel the pain I should've shown symptoms of vomiting by now
"I think your immune.."she said and face me
"I don't know?.."
"If you are?..what do you think is the cause that made you immune to this infection"she put her hands on her waist
"I don't know"I scanned my brain for anything

And then I might remember something my dad is an engineer and he has this side job at our basement where he does science
One day I was injected by something that made my dad freak out
"Maybe.."I began to tell her what's on my mind "maybe that's it that chemical..is the cure..and all..so your out cure!"she said and hugged me I stood there awkwardly the Guy were taking long I noticed
"We should check on the guys.."I put my gun up
"No who's going to watch the car?"
"Then you watch the car"
"But what about you you were already hurt.."
"I'll be fine cara.."I said and heard noise I turned and saw zombies cara also turned they were at least 20 of them heading this way I aimed my gun at it and shoot as much as I can
Cara grabbed a knife and ran closer to the zombie she slit its throat and bashed a skull of two I tried not to aim her as I shoot soon I had enough I took out my baseball bat and ran towards them
There were 10 left
I backed abit and felt Cara's back on mine
"You take the right I take the left"I mentally counted from one to three and soon I killed them all cara and I made a good team at least
"I'm exhausted what happened to them"as we looked at the entrance we saw Eric dragged by Michael and patrick while Lena was shooting inside
As they exited Lena shut the door and barricade it shut with some stuff
"What the hell happened?!"cara asked approaching them
"Eric got bitten he's vomiting blood right now!"Michael said exhausted
"Guys?"Eric said that got our attention
"This is the end guys please strive to survive..no matter who they are doctor,police,or friend kill them..its your only hope..please kill me now!"he said and struggled to get up
"Now please"he whispered and held his arms up high
"Eric.."I approached him
"Alethea..I like you to kill me please.."he grabbed my gun and handed it to me to aim it at his head
"Shoot me now!"he was getting worse
"No!" I said but he held the trigger and shoot himself I was covered in his blood
I cried a friend was killed infront of me
"Alethea?"cara said
"He's dead"that was all I mumbled

Cara's POV
When Eric committed suicide..alethea was breaking down I guess she can't take friends being hurt..
"Alethea"I hugged her as tightly as I can she was sobbing in my arms she was this vulnerable
"It's okay it wasn't your fault."was all I could say
"Come on let's move..we don't have time"Michael said and turned to the wheel
Patrick approached alethea
"Come on puppy..it's fine.."he carried her in the car she was sitting next to me now I looked at Eric's body one more time I felt shivers in my spine
The whole things was stupid

The sun was already setting
Michael was still driving
Everyone was asleep except for me and him Alethea was leaning on my shoulder she was snoring soundly I guess she's having trouble with sleep lately I removed some hair on her face
"You like her dont you?"Michael was staring at me at the rear mirror
I couldn't reply to his question do I like her
"Uhm..-"
"It's all right..damion, and Eric liked her too."he said
"Who's damion?"I asked
"He's Alethea's ex boyfriend.."he answered
"Oh.."was all I could say

"He saved her from those freaks..he was bitten instead of her and he commuted suicide for her..she's one lucky gal..I suggest you take care of her"he said and focused on the road I looked at Alethea one more time she's gorgeous,she's brave,she's caring,she understands,she's got everything

This survival we don't need love...I mean it's an apocalypse we need to survive not get caught up in romance!

It was sunrise already and Michael was still driving decently he felt tired
But he needed to do this I felt Alethea's whispers in her dreams
I lowered my head closer to listen to her dreams
"Dad..what happened to me?..what are you doing?..who's this?.."was all I can hear i came closer to hear her
"No don't..stop please....get out of the way guys...no not her..please...dad no!..Cara?"I jumped into shock what was she dreaming about as she jumped to my name she woke up and looked at me
She was breathing hard
"Are you alright?"
"I'm f-fine just a bad dream"she said
"Wanna talk abou-"
"We are here!"Michael screamed
I looked out side to see a fenced fort
"Micheal what is this.."patrick said pointing at the fort
"This is my dads fort which he gave it to me..cool right?..it's loaded with supplies to last a long time..and my cousin is here you might recognize them tho"he said and climbed the hing fence I followed behind him with patrick behind me
I realize Alethea might not be able to climb this but I was out smart she climbed it with 1 arm tied begin her back because it was injured
She landed safely
Micheal already proceeded to a metal door he knocked 6 times with a pattern and soon the door was opened
"Hey couz!"Michael said bubbly
"Micheal..you've got cara?"
"Kendall?"
