Chapter 3: A Charming Hand

"Here." Annabeth said and stopped us at some street I don't know and rummaged around in her backpack trying to find something. "I hope I have one left."

I was getting nervous by this hoping Annabeth would find it very soon because sirens of cop cars were all around us and I had no Memory Dust on me at all and I don't think I can even use that stuff because I could make someone forget birthdays, appointments, or even who they are. "Anna, what are you looking for?" I ask.

"Found one. Thank the gods." Annabeth said and pulled out a golden coin. What I've been told it's a drachma, Percy told me it when I asked him, but I don't think mortals will take that stuff. "Annabeth, New York taxi drivers won't take that." Percy said.

Annabeth shouted something in Ancient Greek which I understood perfectly which was "Stop, Chariot of Damnation!" I raise a eyebrow not really knowing how this'll help they'll not be able to hear her...at least, that's what I'm expecting.

I was very wrong. Annabeth threw the coin onto the street but it didn't land on it with a small bounce like I thought it sank right through like it was water. For a moment I thought I went insane but it turns out the street turned into some kind of lava and then this taxi appeared, but not any ol' taxi I've seen in New York and San Francisco, nope it looked like it was just made of smoke and the words on the door were hard to read because the smoke was so distracting. The passenger window rolled down and a old women stuck her head out, she had gray hair covering her eyes, and she spoke in a weird voice too. "Passage? Passage?"

"Five to Camp Half-Blood," Annabeth told them and opened the door for us gesturing her hand to go inside, like this is all normal.

"Ash!" The women screeched. "We don't take his kind!" She pointed a ugly finger at Tyson. What day is it? Make fun of Tyson day because I would love to be warned of that day. "Extra pay, three more drachma on arrival." Annabeth promised.

"Done!" Yelled the women

I hesitantly climb inside first then Percy, Tyson going in the middle, Annabeth and Jeremy in last. The inside wasn't so different it was gray and smoky but it was solid the seats cracked and lumpy, like ordinary taxi's.

I looked at the glass that separated us and the driv —- wait a minute, there were three women up front? One driving, one in the middle, and one in the passenger seat. They all had gray stringy hair covering their eyes which got me a little nervous by this.

"Long Island! One-of-metro fare bonus! Ha!" The driver ried and slammed on the peddle making me, Jeremy, and Percy slam into the backseat, I groaned by it not expecting it.

I heard a speaker from it coming from the back saying: "Hi, this is Ganymede, cup-bearer to Zeus, and when I'm out buying wine for the Lord of the Skies, I always buckle up!"

Pretty much it was saying the same thing you hear on the TV about safety only very much different. I looked at the seat belt which wasn't a belt whatsoever it was a black chain I don't think that's safe... I thought.

We did a dead turn into a street making me go closer into Percy but I scoot a little away. "Look out! Go left!" Yelled the women in the left.

"Well, if you'd give me the eye, Tempest, I could see that!" The driver yelled back and my eyes widen eye!? I thought.

I didn't really have time to freak out at them because the driver swerve to avoid a Fedx delivery truck and ran over the crub and we landed into the next block. "wasp! Give me the girls coin! I want to bite it!" The women in the passenger seat said.
