"I DON'T GET IT AT ALL" beth and I walk to the beach together to go surfing. "what don't you understand" my feet hit the sand. "what are we actually, kooks or pogues" she looks at me."Actually we're pogues, but we're on figure 8 now and they don't like pogues. So we are now Kooks" I say seriously. "beth" we stop walking. "I'm working on something and whatever happens. If a boil comes to you then you are not called a holt" I say seriously to her."Is that why you said your name is olivia instead of liv?" she looks at me strangely. "technically my name is also olivia" I say with a laugh "There are a lot of things I don't understand either but I'll come out okay and then I'll tell you" I put my hand on her shoulder.

"Rafe know your name is liv" I shake my head. "and it should stay that way okay" I say seriously and she nods. I put my things on the beach and kick off my shoes and shorts. "Come on, I'm going to teach you how to surf" I say laughing.Beth also kicks off her shoes and shorts and follows me to the water. "Shouldn't I learn it on dry land first?" she asks concerned. "It's going to be okay" I say to her.The waves are not that high today, so not much can go wrong. I paddle a little further. Beth struggles to move forward. "You can do it beth" I yell at her. She paddles harder.

I'm waiting for her to be with me. "okay with the next wave, paddle hard and then stand" I say to her. "like this" I see a wave approaching start to paddle hard with my arms and stand up. Surfing has always been something I enjoyed doing. Sometimes I would just paddle in the middle of the sea and sit there to think.Halfway through, I gently let myself fall off my surfboard. I swim up and grab my surfboard. I climb back up smoothly. Beth looks back and picks up the first wave.She gets up but immediately falls off. I smile softly and paddle towards her. "you okay?" I ask her. She climbs back on her surfboard.

"surfing is not for me" she says coughing. "It doesn't matter" I say smiling. I toss my wet hair to one side. "This is pretty nice" says Beth, looking at the horizon. "I did this almost every day in LA, I wasn't very good at surfing either, so I went bobbing on the water" beth laughs softly"Do you miss LA" I ask her. She looks at me and shrugs. " you ?" she asks me. "I certainly don't miss it" I say with a soft laugh. "I feel more comfortable here" I remove a piece of seaweed from my surfboard."I had a lot of friends in LA, I don't have anything here," Beth says with a sigh. "Your friends there weren't even nice" she shrugs again. "she only used you because you had money"

"Is that why you were always alone?" She looks at me. "Usually yes, I figured out quickly if girls just used me because I had money. Then better alone""But aren't you afraid that people will use you here?" Beth asks. I slowly shake my head. "pogues are real people and the Kooks have more money than we have" I say with a laugh.She smiles softly. "if you feel so alone maybe I know someone for you" I say sweetly to her. " Really?" she says happily."Sarah has a younger sister, I'll ask her if she wants to do something sometime" I tell her."that would be really great" she removes her wet hair from her face, I smile at her. Beth looks around happily. She starts to laugh softly. "your lover boy is looking at us" she smiles at me.

"I don't know what you're talking about" I throw something in her face. I look at the beach where Rafe with Topper are watching from a distance. Rafe sits casually in huge sunglasses. When he sees me looking, he smiles softly. I put my middle finger at him too.I see their eyebrows go up and I smile softly."you don't like it, do you" now beth throws water in my face laughing. "It's complicated you'd understand if you were my age" I smile back.

She rolls her eyes playfully. "Does Dad know?" I look at her with wide eyes. "Of course not and we don't have anything so he doesn't need to know" I look at Rafe again. He raises his eyebrow again when he sees me looking."Shall we go back to the beach?" I ask Beth. "back to your lover you mean?" she says with a smile. I throw water in her face again and catch the first wave. "I'm not fair" I still hear her say. I'll be at the beach soon. I look behind to see how hard it is for Beth, but she'll make it in the end.

I clap for her when she arrives. "See you can do it" I say smiling and give her towel. Beth flops down in the sand with her towel wrapped around her. I look at Rafe with his head to the toilet behind me."I'm going to go to the bathroom for a while" I say to Beth. She nods. "There's food in my bag if you want" I walk to the toilet with my wet body. Rafe walks in front of me and rounds the corner of the toilet. I round the corner and Rafe pulls me into the next best booth.

He pushes me against the cold wall and kisses me immediately. "secretly has become our thing" I say with a laugh. He still has his sunglasses on. "As long as I'm not allowed to go to your house," I roll my eyes. "I can't" I say again."then we'll do it secretly" he kisses me again. "We don't have anything by the way," he says quickly. He presses his lips to mine again. I slowly push him away and give him a weird look. "I don't want a relationship okay?" he says a little bluntly.

"I know we're not in a relationship" I look at him strangely. "But what are we doing if you don't want a relationship?" I look at him.
"We're having a good time" he kisses my neck slowly. "Rafe" I push him away from me. "I don't want to waste time in someone who doesn't want anything" I say irritated."We'll stop then," he says irritated. "What's wrong with you today?" I look at him strangely. "Nothing, you wanted no one to lie to you," he says bluntly. "I'm not lying to you it's still not right"

"what's the matter with you. You are very different" I say softly now. He still keeps his sunglasses on. I move my hands forward to remove his sunglasses, but he turns their head away. "I don't have time for this" he walks out of the cubicle and slams the door hard behind him. I am left in amazement.

I walk out of the booth towards Beth to sunbathe quietly. "Shall we go?" I ask her. She nods and stands up. She puts an arm around me. "I enjoyed today" she says with a smile. "Me too" I smile back.
