The next day, Dazai still went to work. Did he wish to see Chuuya walking through the entrance? He didn't know, because he knew that seeing the one he loved would only hurt him. But every time someone walked into the bar, he couldn't help but take a look at who it was. At the end of the day, Chuuya didn't show up, so as the day after that.

''Hey.'' Days later, Tachihara came like he used to. Dazai looked behind him, but there was no sign of the one he wanted to see most. ''Chuuya's been refusing to come here lately, you know why?'' he asked Dazai. ''I mean, he would use excuses like 'I'm going for a date'.'' Dazai froze for a moment when he said that. ''But bro, everyone knows he's single,'' Tachihara continued, he didn't catch the brunet's actions. As far as he knew, Chuuya's crush had always been Dazai.

Dazai shrugged and said, ''I don't know, it's been more than a week since I last saw him.'' Tachihara nodded as he hummed, ''Hmmm weiiird.'' Then he saw Dazai looking at the bar's entrance with a surprised look, he turned around to see what he was looking at.

It was Chuuya, but he wasn't alone. He had a pretty girl beside him, whom held his arm with both her hands. She had straight and long black hair, and she wore a short leather skirt with a leather jacket outside a white t-shirt, she looked cool, sporty and trendy with her black and white sneakers.

Tachihara was shocked too.

Wait-- he actually has a girlfriend?

He was so confused. Walking up to the ginger head, he greeted, ''Yo.'' And Chuuya returned the favour, ''Hey.'' They stood not too far away from the counter. ''You are?'' ''Rika, Chuuya's dearest girlfriend,'' the girl said before Chuuya spoke. Tachihara looked at Chuuya in confusion, but Chuuya seemed to remain silent implying that she told the truth.

What--

Rika hugged Chuuya's arm even tightly and leaned her head on his shoulder, then said, ''Let's get ourselves some drinks, Chuuya onii-chan~'' Her voice sounded sweet, but annoying if you ask Tachihara. He stared as Rika pulled Chuuya towards the counter. ''Yeah, right, I'm Tachihara, it's such an honour to meet you,'' he said and rolled his eyes behind the rude girl.

''Two glasses of Martini,'' she said to Dazai, not even bothering to add a ''thank you'' or ''please''. Dazai looked down at his own hands all the time, he didn't look at them. After Dazai had made their drinks, Chuuya's hand accidentally touched his when he took his Martini.

''Tsk!'' he made a sound before turning away.

Why... did I do that?

From the corner of his eyes, he could see Dazai freeze a bit. However, he didn't know why, but he just left and went to get a table with Rika without looking at the brunet. Standing not far from them, Tachihara saw that. He walked to the counter and said, ''Dazai, what's happening? Did anything happen between you two?'' Dazai shook his head, he continued working, still staring down.

''Hey, come on, something must've happened.'' This time, Dazai didn't respond. ''Dazai,'' he called him, and Dazai didn't respond. ''Hey.'' Tachihara grabbed Dazai's hand, forcing him to stop what he was doing. ''Look at me,'' he said. Only then did Dazai finally look at him, which got him shocked to see the brunet's utterly listless eyes.

There was a pause, Dazai knew how his expression must've looked like. Then he spoke, ''I'm fine.'' Tachihara still held his wrist as he said, ''How are you fine? You're clearly not--'' ''I will be,'' Dazai interrupted, and Tachihara was left with no choice but to let go of him.

Dazai went back to work, and Tachihara stared at him for some time before finding a table in the corner to sit at. While with Chuuya, on the other hand, Rika had just gone to the bathroom. At first, Chuuya drank his drink and looked around the bar. He looked at the dancing crowd, some happy men playing around with young sexy ladies, then his gaze fell on the bartender. It might be just a coinsidence, or he might've been keeping himself from looking at him.

Unintentionally, his gaze fixed on Dazai, he didn't even realize when Rika was back and talking to him. ''Chuuya onii-chan!'' she called out. ''What are you looking at? Did you hear what I just said?'' she complained grumpily as she looked in the direction of Chuuya's stare.

The bartender...

She couldn't help but grow jealous. The bartender was a handsome, perfect-looking brunet, but she didn't want Chuuya to ignore her because of him. ''Chuuya onii-chan!!!'' And Chuuya got snapped out of his thoughts.

Chuuya was walking down a random street, he had been avoiding Dazai, avoiding going to The Curve. He stared at the grey pavement before him as he walked, but his focus wasn't on it. Then not long after, a pair of slender legs with sneakers on got in his way.

He looked up and saw a girl he had met during business at Kyoto, she was the daughter of the head of Kyoto's mafia organization. ''Chuuya onii-chan~'' she said with a cheerful grin, but then there was silence as Chuuya merely stared at her blankly for a moment before saying emotionlessly, ''... Rika.''

''Ahaha you remember me! I came here on my own, smart right? Chuuya onii-chan I really really like you, can you accept me as your girlfriend? Pleeeease~'' She was a clingy girl, it had already been three months since the last time they met, which was also the first time.

''Hm?'' Chuuya seemed like he hadn't escaped from his own deep thoughts. Then, snap. ''Eh? Rika? What are you doing here?'' His words confused the twenty-year old girl. ''You're talking like you've just met me,'' she said with a frown. ''So? What's your answer?'' she continued, her eyes basically glowing with excitement.

Chuuya stared at her, seconds past, then, ''Yeah, okay. Why not?'' he blurted, he wasn't even sure if his mind was working. ''Yess!! I knew you'd fall for me one day!'' Rika was jumping with joy, she looked like a cheerleader right now.

*PRESENT*

''I'm getting more drinks,'' said Rika. She walked up to the bartender and rudely slammed her empty glass onto the counter. ''Martini, please.'' She said ''please'' this time, but not at all sincerely as she had an annoying long face on. Looking at Dazai getting her drink prepared, she said, ''Have you gone to Kyoto?''

Dazai didn't really want to interact with her, but he still shook his head as an answer. ''Oh, well then maybe you should pay it a visit. The people there are really welcoming, I'll make sure of that,'' she said with a dry smile, then grabbed her drink from Dazai and left to get back to Chuuya.

In fact, this wasn't the first time she had seen Dazai. In the past few days when she was hanging out with Chuuya, she caught him occasionally lost in his thoughts when he saw a certain someone. Did Chuuya go to places he knew Dazai would always show up at on purpose? No one knew. But as jealous as Rika was, she definitely remembered how Dazai looked like.

It was her idea to come to this bar because she had heard from her friends that the bartender here was the best looking in town to say the least, but she didn't expect for him to be Dazai.

Finishing up her drink, she said to Chuuya, ''Let's go, and maybe you should stop staring at someone else when you already have a gorgeous girlfriend.'' Chuuya looked at her. ''Staring? No I wasn't staring at anybody.''

Yeah, right, you weren't.

Rika rolled her eyes at him, anyone who saw her do that would know that she was pissed, but Chuuya wasn't looking at her, and that was exactly the problem. ''Let's go,'' she said and pulled on Chuuya's arm, only then did he regain his focus on her and stood up. They left, and Dazai saw that.

He held the edge of the counter with both hands and took a deep breath. It wasn't a normal and stable breath, it was more of a pained one. He could feel his heart clutch, and it only got worse as time went by.

Are you happy with her, Chuuya?
