❥︎Author's Pov

Naveen was buttoning up his white shirt when he heard his mobile ring. After rolling both sleeves up to his elbow, he gripped the mobile from the dressing table and studied the name on it.

It's Maira. He became apprehensive seeing her contact him, he hurriedly attended the call and brought it up to his ear.

He blurted out her name two times but there was no reply from the other end. He was really worried about her. When he was almost on the edge to disconnect and strode towards wherever Maira is...he heard her talk.

He could sense that she isn't speaking to him, rather speaking about him.

Each word of her made his heart jump yet he couldn't figure out the motive for it.

The incident she was mentioning is too small and simple but held so many emotions of both of them. Yes, it's the first time he ever saw her in the light of a grown-up girl.

I thought he also loves me as I do...it may sound odd or cliche but that day when he peered at me, I could detect something different.

He did stare at her in awe, the girl he had loved and taken care of seemed way too distinctive at that moment. Regardless of it all, what surprised him is, she had noticed it, 'the contrast in his gaze'

That's why I never felt the need to confess my love to him...but I was wrong though, it turns out that I was just very stupid and he never loved me the way I did.

'Maira loves me' he mumbled to himself, his heart began to pump more blood at the realization.

He put the phone down on his bed, brows furrowing in distress. 'Do I love her?' his chest became hardened at the question.

'You do...more than you, yourself will ever know.' something in him whispered which left him further confused.

Why now?

He rubbed his forehead and peered at the mirror in front of him. He wanted to converse with Maira right now.

Not wasting time, he went out of his room which is on the down floor. As he neared the elevator, his mom tapped on his shoulder. "Where are you going now Naveen? My soon-to-be daughter-in-law is standing alone on the stage" she pointed to the stage where Anita was standing with a smile on her face, posing for pictures.

Damn, he is getting married tomorrow! How can he even think of loving Maira now!?

How does that work?
