Reaching down from the side of her bed, eyes squinting shut as her fingers scraped the edge of something. A grunt left her mouth as she pushed her shoulder further down the gap between her bed and the wall - ignoring the pain the shot through her limb.
Grasping the object that had fallen from the side, the young teenager pulled her arm back up to reveal a rectangular device with a sigh. "Well, that hurt more than I thought it would," she mumbled, looking at her reflection through the phone with a tired yawn whilst her other hand rubbed her shoulderblade to soothe the pain.
She had woken up not that long ago, only to find out that her phone had slipped from her hand last night sometime when she had fallen asleep and dropped down the side of her bed.
The teenager blinked at the sudden flash of her phone as it turned on. It took a few seconds, but the teenager adjusted to the screen light and could see her lock screen. The numbers '6:48' flashed in big, bold letters and behind it was a photo of a group of 3 girls together in the middle of the woods.
The one on the left had pale skin and blonde hair waving down her back, leaning a hand on the middle one's shoulder as an 'armrest'. Her eyes were a green-blue colour that looked like the mix of a young forest and the shallow waters of the ocean, and they shined with a genuine happiness most would've envied to have.
The middle was a dark-skinned woman with black hair, olive-green eyes and a heart-shaped face. She had her arms wrapped around the other two people in the photo, her eyes struggled to hide the confidence she held as she focused on the camera with a lopsided grin.
The last on was on the right, sticking her hands in the air defiantly with her fingers shaped as guns. She didn't have pale skin, but the redhead wouldn't exactly call her tan either.
She had more of an olive complexion with her hair being a dark brown colour, along with her eyes being a sea of caramel brown. She herself had a loopy smile on her face - something the teenager missed seeing it so carefree on her friend's face.
The seventeen-year-old remembered taking that photo as if it was only the day before. A cherished memory when none of them knew what they did now. Before the town became unsafe and riddled with the supernatural creatures.
When it was just the four of them battling against the system called school.
The girl's thinking was interrupted as the screen turned black only for a moment before springing to life with red and green button. Reading the caller ID, the green-eyed female felt a smirk pull on her face as she swiped the green button upwards and pressing it to her ear.
"Hey, Katerina," she mumbled, staring down at her pillow with interest. Why is she calling me now? "Eden," the other one on the phone warned, her tone tight with annoyance - a clear indicator she didn't like the way the ginger had greeted her.
