Chapter 3: Big News!!! Part 1

On the day of Alison's twelve birthday, Alison woke up super early to play with her brand-new bike that her uncle gave her the day before as a birthday gift. No one was awake yet and Alison was a scaredy-cat so she woke up Brian to accompany her play.

. . .

Monday arrived which means back to school. Alison woke up late and automatically was late for school.

The school gate usually closes at 7:15, but the moment Alison arrived, the gate was still wide open. Students took their time entering the school premises. Like other students, Alison also took her time entering.

The Bell must've not rung yet. Well, it didn't matter if the bell had yet rung or not, all that mattered was that Alison passed through the gate and was already in school.

The school has a total of five buildings; The main school building which includes all the facilities that need to be shared, the elementary building for students from grade one till six, Junior High school building for students from grade seven till nine, High school building for students from grade ten till twelve and a Sports building which includes most sports.

Alison was in her second year of high school. She made her way to her building, pass the lobby, used the elevator to take her to the third floor and entered her class.

Class B2-2 has twenty-seven students, all students except Alison were already present and there was no teacher and as a result, the class was almost as noisy as a night market.

There was a total of twenty-eight tables and chairs for students in class B2-2. Seven rows with four tables and chairs for each row. The class door is located at the back on the right side. Alison's seat was in the fourth row from the right, third seat.

Alison walked up to her seat, put her bag and walked over to Ella's seat was also in the third seat, two rows to the left from Alison. Chris' seat was just behind Ella's.

"Where's Sir. Harrison?" Alison stood beside Chris and Ella's seats.

Ella was too busy playing her game, she didn't hear Alison so Chris answered, "Next class said that the teachers are having a meeting."

A smile crept up her face. No wonder the whole class was extra cheerful today. A teacher in the morning or middle of the day could only mean sudden news for them and sometimes for the students.

Could it be pleasant or unpleasant news? Alison was curious, "Do you know what it's about?"

Chris shook his head and shrugged, "I wish I do, so that I can at least prepare myself, but my mother didn't mention there will be a meeting today."

Alison and Chris were guessing about the possibilities. Was the Ministry of Education visiting the school? A new school rules? A school guest?...

"It's a field trip." Ella suddenly slipped into the conversation.

They immediately faced Ella, "How did you know?" They said in unison.

"But field trip is not until term two" stated Alison

"You've been listening this whole time?" Chris frowned.

"When I finished playing, I turned around to see you and Alison saying random things then you said teacher meeting then I guessed. "Ella paused to turn to her chair, "anyway, think about it. Our midterms just ended, and now they are having a meeting. Our field trips are always after midterms. I'm sure they are having a meeting about the field trip. Is it a coincidence! I think so not. "Ella sounded very confident

"I doubt it," said Alison and Chris in unison.

The bell suddenly rang and the students went back to their seats.

A few minutes later, the door opened revealing class B2-2's homeroom teacher; Sir Harrison. He had a stack of papers with him.

Sir. Harrison walked to the front of the class then stood behind the podium and called out the class president, "Hera Leen. Take these papers and distribute them to your classmates."

"Yes Sir"

Sir. Harrison waited patiently while Hera Leen was giving out the papers.

Hera Leen was not done with the task when one student cheerfully said, "Wait. Is this for real!"

Students that already got the paper were also thinking the same question with smiles on their faces, while the students that have yet gotten theirs were getting curious by the second

When Alison got her paper, she saw the words 'Fields Trip Consent Form' in bold capital letters at the centre of the paper. She immediately turned her head to look at Ella and Ella looked back at her mouthing, 'I told you so' with a smug on her face.

After everyone got their papers, the teacher started talking, "now that everybody got their papers, as you can see, it is a consent form for the field trip. It's going to be a three days and two nights trip. Later today you will all receive the activities sheet for when we are there. So, look through that, ask permission from your parents/guardian and make sure to get their signature at the very bottom of the paper, if you are going for those who are not allowed to go, just write your name and leave everything else blank. Any questions?"

This was the first time Monday started in a good way.

A student raised her hand and asked, "When is the submission date, Sir?"

"You can all submit it to me any day and by next week, I should have all the forms back." All the students started talking with each other and the teacher continued, "If any of you fail to submit it by the latest of next Monday, I will send you back home, and take it and submit it to me."

No one believed him when he said, he'll send them home, but Sir. Harrison's expression was saying that he wasn't joking.

. . .

During lunchtime, Leo and Jane visited classroom B2-2.

Jane and Leo approached their friends at Chris' and Ella's seats and asked, "What are you all still doing here? Let's go, I heard we're having steak today."

They all stood up and started walking to the cafeteria, grabbed their tray sat down at an empty seat.

All of them chatted like usual. Jane gave the souvenirs she got from her trip during the weekend.

Since the weekend was brought up, Chris stated that his weekend wasn't as bad as he thought it would be. Alison told them that she played badminton on Saturday for a very long time that her body was in pain and had to take the whole Sunday to recover. Ella simply mentioned that the only thing she did was sleep and play games.

Lea started talking about the upcoming field trip whether they were coming or not.

Since it was a field trip, of course, they had to come to no matter where they go, so they all replied with a yes.
